![]() What Jeff Sneider’s sources are saying is that McKay’s “climate change” movie is going to be tackling the most doom and gloom scenario imaginable for our planet, and he’s definitely directing this one. It’s called “Greenhouse,” and it’s set to star Sam Rockwell and Amy Adams, who also appeared in McKay’s 2018 Dick Cheney film “Vice.” “Greenhouse” will be based on David Wallace-Wells’ 2019 book “The Uninhabitable Earth: Life After Warming.” In ‘Uninhabitable Earth,’ Wallace-Wells' dives into various possibilities for Earth's future with the belief that, even with active intervention, the effects of climate change are inevitable and will have catastrophic impacts on our planet. Think of the worst possible scenarios — tsunamis, extinctions, disease outbreaks, fires, droughts, famines, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and wars — they’re all in Wallace-Wells’ book. source |

I guess because it's a Climate change movie and the book it's being based on is non-fiction and simply describes the consequences of global warming.
You can obviously turn that into a narrative feature, but based on the source material and Adam McKay's more recent movies, the message will likely come first and the narrative second (if there even is one). |

I am not trying to argue, not denying anything here but my question to you is - what is imminent? the louder voices in the movement have always put a timeframe on it ... all of those deadlines always come and go with no noticeable consequence. I absolutely get the tactic of raising awareness, sounding the alarms but at a point it comes off as the boy who cried wolf and the players along the way may start off virtuous but along the way it goes from movement to identity until just devolving into grift - a combination of making a living off of the movement financially and for social currency. Like others have said, we as individuals can only do so much however its big corporations and certain countries that just aren't doing their part. I really enjoyed The Big Short but it was the worst thing that happened to McKay if you were a fan of his earlier sillier (superior) comedy films. Ever since the success of that film he has taken that same smug, look-how-clever-I-am approach to subsequent films. The only positive I can take away from Vice was Bale's performance. Don't Look Up was straight trash. I have zero faith in any project from him going forward. As someone else in the thread said with him its bludgeon you over the head with message first, maybe sprinkle a bit of narrative in if there's any room left. |

Have you taken a look around at how insanely out of control our weather is? How ****ed up our nature and ecosystems are? Nope? Look, I agree that us individuals can only do so much. But at least we should all have the decency to clean up after ourselves and not just leave our trash lying around anywhere and everywhere "because it doesn't matter anyway, and climate change doesn't exist." With that being said, I've enjoyed both Adam McKay's pre- and post-'The Big Short' movies, and am looking forward to this one. |

![]() I honestly don't keep up with this stuff at all; I actively avoid watching the news and am pretty much completely apolitical, but I find it hilarious that 'those people' absolutely lose their minds when Adam McKay puts out a movie. ![]() |

I wasn't directing that second paragraph towards you at all. I was firstly stating that I tend to avoid all of the hoopla, and then secondly that Adam McKay tends to grind a lot of people's gears, and I find that funny. I usually steer clear of these kinds of discussions because they almost always end up badly for everyone. |

you used the term imminent, I was sincerely asking what you consider imminent. what is imminent in the terms of the timeline you are attaching to it and the consequences? |
