Default Google Freeplay on Google-based televisions

Just got a notification that Google Freeplay lets you watch content directly from other content providers.

Currently, there is only one content provider listed: Xumo.

Maybe more will be added later, like Tubi, Pluto, Plex etc.

Update: When I click on a movie available on Xumo which is shown on the Google TV home screen, it is still asking me to install the app. Why do they say "it lets you watch directly"?

All it does it takes you directly to the movie on the Xumo app. Roku home screen also lets you select movies and shows from other apps. All it does is take you straight to the movie/show on the actual app like Hulu or netflix. You still have to have the app installed on Roku.

It does that for every movie on the home screen, whether or not it is a Freeplay content provider. Click on a Netflix movie, Netflix app opens and plays the movie immediately.

Direct play should have ideally made installation of the content provider apps redundant.
