Default How Do You Collect Your Blu-Rays?

How do you decide which blu-ray your going to buy?

For me I have them grouped in categories. I focus on collecting by Comedy/Drama/Horror etc

When I get done with one category I go to the next one. In October I focus on the Horror titles and have a marathon

How do you collect ?

By price.

Whenever one gets cheap enough I buy it. The only time i'll look at a specific genre is leading up to halloween, I'll look for horror, but I try to buy in August or September before the prices are jacked back up.

Some films I plan on buying as soon as they come out, regardless of price.

Other times I have a rough idea of films I want, it's just a case of them dropping to a price I'm happy to pay.

Sometimes I'll be out shopping and just grab one spur-of-the-moment

I only buy my favorite movies, of which most aren't even on Blu yet...I do try to get as decent a price I can, but since I buy fewer than many other people, I'm not quite as picky in that regard...

I like to buy films from pre 1970 including silent films. I also collect Post 1970 but before is when films were really interesting

This is how I started my Blu-Ray collection, too. About a month ago, I finally got to the bottom of my wishlist (took me 4-5 months), so now I just buy an occasional title if the price is right. I generally don't blind-buy Blus, also.

my checklist:
1) is the movie great? i'm not cluttering up my house with movies that are merely good.
2) is there any chance i will watch it again?
3) does the disc represent the best that can be done with the source material?

i buy my favourite movies mostly, i rarely blind buy unless i heard great things about the flick and its a good transfer
price plays a huge role as well, i dont spend more than 21.99 on a movie unless its a fav of all time, so ibuy alot of used or shop at flea market and i dont go crazy wen blus r 9.99 i am very picky, i would rather spend 22bones on a really good blu than 2 mediocre ones im in no rush to own alot

I generally follow this method as well. Occasionally, I will blind buy a movie to try something new, or if a title really intrigues me.

That's an excellent checklist my friend, my criteria when contemplating a purchase are almost identical...

under $11 for single title movies. if boxset, then under $10 per movie.

TV, i like to stay around under $2 per 43min. episode.

Yeah, that's basically how I decide whether or not to buy a film. In particular, I resonate on #2 and then ask myself "Does my collection really need this title?"
