Die hard Nic Cage completionist here. Can't believe this almost slipped by my notice. I see that the blu-ray in Germany has the same release date as this 4k, yet the blu-ray is available for pre-order and the 4k isn't. I haven't somehow missed my chance to order this, have I? I'm assuming this hasn't actually gone up for sale yet. Can anyone confirm?

Amazon. Just always seems easier to me for international because it autofills my info from my US account and I don't have to try and navigate a page that's not in English for payment and shipping info.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a 4K upgrade this demonstrably superior to its 1080p counterpart. Utterly demolishes the U.S. Blu-ray.

My only complaint is I wish these German companies would start offering English audio on their trailers, but where it counts—the film proper—oh yeah, it’s a big improvement. All that weird ass posterization on the U.S. disc, particularly in dark scenes and in the fur of the creatures, is completely abolished and the grain (likely fake digital, but nevertheless) looks immaculate.

Good gawd, the rubbish cgi cartoon/video game monsters are soooo bad. This film would’ve been way better with far fewer of them, much less overblown action with them, and much less of them on-screen in general. The cgi designers always fall in love with these daft creations and directors go way overboard with it just about every time. This could actually have been pretty creepy and suspenseful with clever, respectfully-used practical effects. The cgi-fest is once again a big missed opportunity.

![]() ![]() eBay Watched it today wasn't expecting much but I really liked it. Story was good and the cast was quite strong. CGI was fine I suppose they could go practical but that would reduce what the director wanted. The different shooting styles was pretty annoying it took me 10mins to get used to the shakeycam and then they mixed it up a bit and finally the long shot at the end with the titles was just horrible. Bought it from Rarewaves as I had a £5.00 voucher saved up from points https://www.rarewaves.com/products/4...n-in-der-nacht |

I looked up the monsters on YouTube and they have a very brightly modified look at them. These things are goofier than I thought. And Goofy was used as inspiration, so that shouldn't be a surprise. How clear is the UHD? Or, rather, can you actually see them?
