I'm honestly in. Very curious to see how this turns out. I loved 'Heroes', even through it's shakiest parts. Also, here's an article on it:

Quote:
NBC used Saturday’s primetime Olympics coverage to announce that Heroes is coming back with a new miniseries.

A press release was issued right after the commercial made the initial announcement on television.

Heroes Reborn is set to make its debut in 2015 as an “event miniseries” with original creator and executive producer Tim Kring in charge of its rebirth. The show has a 13-episode order.

“The enormous impact ‘Heroes’ had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke in a press release.

She continued, “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

We’re glad to hear that NBC won’t be afraid of bringing back original cast members. Who’s on your wish list?

Same. The show certainly trailed off but I thought the first season was unbelievably good.

First season was awesome, then it went down hill from there. I would watch at least that. The show had so much potential, but it wasted so much of it in the later seasons it just became a huge mess.

Exciting news that its coming back if they can recapture the spark. I'll miss claire , she obviously won't be coming back with Nashville. Sylar is probably too busy with Trek. Hopefully we could at least get the time travel guy, peter, etc.

Are Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer still alive? I want a Coy and Vance Duke miniseries.

I liked most of season one, until they pulled back and changed their original ending ideas... it was evident from there that they were too willing to tinker to please the fans rather than stick to the plot they were headed towards... and from that point it made the show harder to stay interested in since you knew the plots were being geared to pander to what was "trending" online with fans.

Loved the first season of Heroes but the show fell off real bad season two on wards. I'm going to give this a chance, they had four years to learn from their mistakes. With only 13 confirmed episodes. Hopefully the story will be better.

That first season was so fantastic, I doubt they can ever re-capture that.

Maybe if they bring back Sylar and Hiro - though Hayden P is still deep into Nashville, so she won't be available.

Also, will it be a new season or a reboot? If they follow all that crap from the later seasons, no thank you.

How could they possibly top the season four finale where they threw dirt at each other? Cupcake baking contest?

Maybe they'll go back in time and undo everything that happened after season 1.

Honestly, the writer's strike really killed this show. It never recovered after that blow...But, I think doing this sequel/reboot is the best idea possible about trying to bring it back. Doing it as a series of miniseries every few years might even make it better. But of course, that's just my opinion. Really hoping for the best here.

Heroes was definitely the number one victim of the writers' strike.

Agree, season 2 was destroyed by the writer's strike. It was off the air for almost 9 months after they aired their last filmed episode, which killed any momentum it had.. A lot of shows were hurt by the writer's strike that year.

But, some may argue that the season 1 finale was a huge letdown considering all the momentum going into it.

Season 1 was spotty in the 2nd half but over all quite good. Season 2 was an absolute train wreck. I quit 1 episode into season 3.

Stand alone season? Eh.... I'll maybe try it...? I dunno...it's still Kring, so I'll wait for opinions.

Oh and I disagree that the strike killed it; the quality of that first episode in season 2 was terrible and that standard maintained. The fact they had to rush an ending really made no difference.

I also agree that the show tanked before the writer's strike. There were a lot of things wrong with the season 1 finale, and everything fell apart from there. Season 2 was painfully slow. I actually really had a fun time with season 3 though, even though it was an utter mess. The characters were just too inconsistent and flip flopped way too much. I stopped following the show during season 4.

I think they would have been best off following their original plan of having a new set of "heroes" every season, thus essentially having a self-contained story for each season. That could have had so much potential. I understand why they ended up continuing with the same set of characters, though. Even still,
[Show spoiler]Sylar
(spoiler just in case, lol) should have remained dead after the season 1 finale. That was one of the key mistakes.

Still, I think this is a good thing. I understand that season 4 ended on a major cliffhanger, and the show was subsequently canceled, which is a huge blow to fans who actually followed it through its four-year run. Hopefully, the events of that cliffhanger ending will inform some of the storylines of new series.
