Zero idea about this movie, but the A24 fanboy in me is going for the blind buy after watching the trailer. Seems like it will go nicely right next to Macrel.

I haven't seen it either, but Kelly Reichardt has been making quality films for almost 3 decades now.

Her most recent prior to this was also an A24 film, First Cow.

The pattern is, if a movie already had a release it’s a taller case, if it hasn’t had a prior release in the US, like this movie the smaller case.

Never heard of this but discovering Wendy and Lucy was one of the few high points of my time as a Criterion Channel subscriber. Happy to make this a blind buy.

Still hasn’t hit UK cinemas or VOD (Focus are rumoured to have it) - so similar to what happened with Marcel (First Cow was released 14 months after the US due to lockdown).

I'm more surprised a Kelly Reichardt film has a director's commentary track, let alone a 4K release.

It’s an exclusive as of now yeah. It could change, but based on previous releases that’s probably how it’ll stay.

I was looking for a decent price on the French BD so this is a nice surprise. I had to cancel a few pre-orders lol but i had to get this.

I got my copy today, the art cards that are included are super nice and everything from the A24 shop is always packed so nicely. They even individually wrapped the disc in thick paper.

This was a blind buy and I suspected I would enjoy it but I didn’t expect it to be my favorite release of the year in every way imaginable. But it is! I love these moody, slow burn films. The picture, with its lovely grain and texture, is perfection. And these are my favorite types of Atmos mixes—more about the environmental effects and creating a lived-in sound space than simply filling speakers for the sake of it.

I’ve come to take this format for granted over the last few years but a release like this reminds me why it inspired to build a modest home theater and film collection in the first place.

I hope this pile just keeps getting bigger and bigger:
