Seriously? A few hours after I ordered the DVD (that's already shipped), I see this thread?
I guess I can give the DVD to a friend who's always helping me out with stuff, but this was just too close. Glad to see old Burt get some more Blu-Ray releases though. ![]() |

Yeah, I would hold off on anything MGM related. With TT and Kino, it looks like we're going to be flooded with tons of their old DVD upgrades. For example, I'm anticipating that one of them will release The Bounty some time soon (perhaps TT because they could have the isolated Vangelis score).

Is "The Longest Yard" ever going to get the blu treatment?
It was one of Burt's most popular films and won a 1975 Golden Globe for Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) ![]() |

Very cool! After all of the references on Archer, I can't wait to finally see this and Gator (whenever it gets released) on Blu-ray! That does bring up a good question. Why release the sequel before the original? It's certainly not a complaint, and I'll pick up either or both regardless.
It's so great to see so many catalog titles coming from Kino, even if a lot of them may not be of immediate interest to me personally. |

This is a great film. I remember seeing it on vhs when I was younger and hating it until much later.
Fun Facts: Carowinds Amusement Park in Charlotte, NC previously had a roller coaster that took its name from this film (albeit slighty altered to legally use the name since the film was still relatively new and popular at the time): [Show spoiler] They currently have one themed almost directly to the moonshine film Thunder Road, another one Kino should release imo: [Show spoiler] And a very unlikey rumor suggests they might be getting the name White Lightning re-used for a new coaster next year which will be 300+ Feet tall. |
