Quote:
Regarding the continuation of the film as a series, the film's producer Todd Garner revealed to Collider that there is a possibility of a Johnny Cage-centric standalone film. Taslim has revealed that he signed on for four sequels if the reboot is a success. Director Simon McQuoid stated that he is open for returning to direct a sequel if the story for it is good. Co-writer Greg Russo told Collider that he sees the reboot as a trilogy with the first film set before the tournament, the second film set during the tournament and the third film set post-tournament

Well, for a cheesy b grade acting role, it's perfect

Tbh, i kinda like that as a choice because he's quite solid and visually can pack on the muscle for Cage but i'd love to see other casting options fans have mentioned as i can't off the top of my head think of any.

Even though MK2021 was no masterpiece, it was reasonably entertaining. I'll watch the sequel, for sure.

Pretty much a lot a people who are not big fans of the 2021 film seem to agree that they still want a sequel. That's the weird thing about this movie. It's not great, but it was still faithful to the games at the same time.

The original was more faithful than the new one. Got some things wrong (Sub Zero and Scorpion, not that the new one got them right anyway) but by and large kept the tone and mythology. The new one got the violence right, and that's it.

The original acknowledged that Sub Zero and Scorpion were archenemies, but for some strange reason they never fought.

Original 95 movies explained why they never fought. Shang Tsung had them enslaved under his power.

"Scorpion and Sub-Zero, deadliest of enemies... but slaves under my power."

It was lip service to combat the fact they were more obstacles than characters.

Scorpion is a deus ex machina and Sub Zero is much more evil than Bi Han was in the mythology, and he wasn't even a saint there. And for some reason, existed centuries ago.

Yeah but it was so vague. First of all, when did Shang Tsung had the ability to do that? But, whatever. This is a fantasy, so I shouldn't question it.

Its one of the most watched films on HBOMax apparently. Read an article the other day. They said the hits its getting justifies another chapter.

What they need is a director that is actually creative and can get his actors to act properly. MK 2021 was boring as hell w/ some horrible acting from so many involved. Action was the biggest failure in it.

Bring Kano back cuz he's the only one that can act worth a damn.
