Question How do people use the "Movies" functionality (vs Collection)

[Show spoiler]I notice there are settings in both the app and website to create an entry under Movies when an item is added to the Collection. (although I think there was inconsistency in that functionality when doing bulk uploads).
*(Actually I think I'm confusing the Watched feature. But nevertheless, a handful of titles have automatically appeared for me under Movies when added to the Collection using the website, but via the app most have not)

For myself, I'm not interested (yet) in keeping a log when I watch a movie, or necessarily looking for another way to keep a list of movies I might watch.

So I (think I) disabled the setting to create Movie entries when entering my collection but now I wonder if that is a factor in the issue I raise here
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=372549
where it is hard to break out box-sets into individual titles.

There seems to be a lot of overlap between functionality of Collections and Movies, not least two versions of Search.

No doubt it has evolved this way over a long time.
Do the site owners have a roadmap for this?

How do you get the best out of the functionality?

Do any of you have an (almost) empty Movies list like I do, and just use Collections?

OK. I've decided I can't put box sets in my colllection.
To be useful I'll need to delete the entries I've made so far, and add all of the individual titles.
Pretty sad.

I am not sure what you mean. Why can't you put box sets in your collection?

Well I can & I have.
But then the individual movies don't appear in most parts of the app or the site, which greatly reduces the usefulness of features like searching.

I put more detail in my other thread, but as a simple example even though it isn't a feature I need:
If you add a box set of 8 movies, you cannot mark which of the 8 you have watched. You either flag the entire box as watched or not watched.

Thanks for the reply.

I understand now. That would be nice to have. But you can go the individual movie pages and marked those as watched. I don't think it affects the box set.
