I just wanted to point out that this format war has really shamed a few companies. And I really wanted to bring to light who those companies are.
First, let me say that Toshiba should be ashamed of themselves for outright lying to the consumers, trying to win the war by paying companies off, and joining forces with Microsoft. However, I can see how they felt like they manufactured a great product and that they were trying to win the consumer by offering a product at a lesser price. I can understand why they would do everything they could to try to win this war. They were desparate and they fought, although mostly unfair, hard. Second, if Toshiba announces that they are dropping HD-DVD before Paramount or Universal announce support for Blu-Ray, all shame should go DIRECTLY to those two companies. At least Toshiba might bow out now that they know there's nothing else they can do. Not even lying is buying them market share. But for Uni and Para to sit around and WAIT for HD-DVD to bow out first is cowardly. They would be sending a clear message to consumers: "We don't care what consumers really want. We don't care about consumers at all. We are going to fight what consumers actually want until we're FORCED to come kicking and screaming to the winning format." How shameful. I don't know which one is worse: Universal or Paramount. Paramount is bad because they actually accepted the bribe and it was a really big slap in the face to Blu-ray supporters. And now they're going to have to come back by default. Losers. And Ken G. at Universal makes me sick too. I don't even want to get into the fact that people pay him millions of dollars to make such stupid decisions. Overall, I will think twice about purchasing a Blu-ray made by these two studios. I would also urge any and all film makers to think twice before making your films with either of these companies. Both companies are led by weasels. Sure, I'll buy movies like Transformers. I'm not going to boycot anybody releasing titles on Blu. But if I start limiting my purchases due to budgetary concerns, Paramount and Universal titles will be the first to go. |
