If Rod Steiger and/or Michael Pataki who played his character as a younger man, had been guilty of "overacting" in some scenes, it hardly detracts from this fine story by Rod Serling and Steven Bochco, which debuted on what was the Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theater TV series. Playing older than his years, Rod Steiger as an aging movie mogul desperately fighting against a changed Hollywood. Great supporting case too. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0528154/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1

But "Slow Fade to Black" or "Movie Maker have been long ago locked away for decades from most viewers by https://www.paleycenter.org/collecti...&item=T87:0501 , who only permit private screenings by appointment. But many like me are physically unable to attend such showings. And it’s this kind of unjustifiable hoarding which is an affront to our cinematic community and an outright theft of its culture. But who or what can compel Paley to open its vault to get at least one of these two titles get released on DVD or BD? However the release may happen, hopefully it won’t be done exclusively via Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu or other Hollywood studio content fed streaming services. Either deliberately or by default, they are killing off the optical disk, the primary format which those who enjoy vintage movies and TV shows depend on. Instead, there plenty of DVD/BD distributors who would jump at the chance to release this Rod Serling/Steiger classic.
