Synopsis

Good to see (and encouraging) CBS/Paramount releasing another older television series on Blu-ray in the States. Am hoping other older series get the same treatment next year (thinking of The Streets of San Francisco (and yes, I'm aware of the German release, but I'm talking about a Blu-ray release in the States).

Any chance this won't have the hacked episodes because of the music like the DVDs or will this just be a new transfer?

It's likely not a new transfer. The show was transferred to HD prior to the DVD release. The DVD release was based on those HD transfers. Whatever edits were done then will likely be in the new blu-ray release.

Will probably pick this up eventually when there is a good deal on the set. I have the DVD set, but always try to upgrade. Looking forward to this.

The redacted content was remastered along with the rest of it. They just chose not to pay to clear the music Gomer sings.

HD transfers are exceptional as previously shown on Sundance.

I am picking this up for the 95 percent of episodes that are uncut. There was a huge improvement in hd for hogan's heroes and so will it be for this show. Since these 2 shows are my favorite two sitcoms of the 60's, it is a no brainer for me.

For those waiting for the price to drop, hogan's heroes is actually a few dollars more than this now and it has been out for a couple of years. I used 25 dollars in amazon reward points for this purchase to help out.

Mine arrived today. Can't wait to get into this as I've not seen these episodes in years. I hate that it's edited, but I'll try to live with it. I really wish Shout would put McHale's Navy on blu-ray!

I really didn't expect this to come out, but it's nice to see CBS/Paramount committing to putting out their older shows. With this and TAGS, surely Mayberry RFD is in the pipeline.

Still waiting on the rest of I Love Lucy, though...

Yes it is the same masters that were used on the dvds only on disc they are now true 1080p (not upscales). The same was with the andy griffith show, hogans heroes ect. If they release other shows like i love lucy it will be the same deal but that will not stop these conversations for every release. I personally feel the better picture is worth the upgrade but some dont.

I'm still waiting for the rest of The Beverly Hillbillies, at least on DVD! I guess hoping for a blu-ray set is out of the question.

I did buy the first two seasons of I Love Lucy on blu - and will gladly buy the rest of the series if CBS ever puts it out.

Hope they do.
