Default Anime That You Forgot Even Existed

I was watching this video recently and realized I had forgotten about this anime completely until now.

So have any of you watched an old anime or a video about that anime and realize you have seen it before but just forgot about it?

Heroic Age

I know I've watched it since it was one of my first Blu-rays, and I apparently liked it enough to score an 8, but I remember absolutely nothing about it.

I normally have an vague idea of the overall story and maybe a couple of scenes from everything I've seen but I'm completely blank on this one.

For obvious reasons I forgot about Sword for Truth, and Big Wars

However, then I watched someone go over both absolutely terrible anime OVAs, and it brought back terrible nightmarish memories of how awful, and incredibly boring both of these OVAs were.

Also yes I do not think more people need to experience how awful these anime OVAs truly are as trust me it's not worth it.

I regularly forget No Game, No Life exists despite how immensely popular it ended up becoming in the years since it aired a decade ago (I'm old). Watched it as it aired, and I never cared for it. Many years later, I watched the movie, and it was the same deal.

On another note, I wish I could forget Sh*****ta ever existed (I want to even forget the name). Cared little for it, then THAT episode happened, and ugh. I eventually finished it years later for completionist sake, but ugh. I avoided ANN for like a week when they had articles and banners and such for it.

I forgot about Big Wars.....for good reason.

I have heard of Sword of Truth, never got around to watching it.

What is "Sh*****ta"?

Ha, I guessed that one correctly before looking at the link... never saw it.

I'm fairly new to anime, only started watching around 2011 when I was already 50 years old, so about the most obscure anime I remember watching was Chrome-Shelled Regios which was on Netflix at the time. I believe it was the third anime series I ever watched, after Last Exile and Blood+, and I haven't seen it since even though I do actually have the DVD in my collection. I remember liking it quite a bit even though I think it wasn't very popular overall. Most of my favorite anime are from 1995 through 2012, and I don't care much for Vintage anime, so anything released before 1995 I won't really know that it ever existed, lol.

Although, I do have the MADOX-01 Blu-ray that AnimEigo put out in their Kickstarter just a couple years ago, so that one isn't obscure to me...

Okay, how about an anime that NONE of us knew existed, a century old lost anime that was just discovered in a private collector's hands:

Shit, I've been watching anime since 1996. Started out watching Sailor Moon, Draggin' Your Balls and whatever else was on toonami at that time-I can't believe I watched dreck like that. I have a pretty big physical collection but there has to be a practical limit to the size, in other words I don't collect just for the sake of collecting unlike some other individuals here.....! But I disgress-one series that I forget about a little bit is Mnemosyne-also known as Rin. It's one of my all time favorites.

I liked Mnemosyne a lot, actually picked up the Blu-ray fairly early in my anime collecting. A green-haired MC is somewhat rare in anime - plus she wears glasses, too! I've even used Rin as my Avatar on here, years ago - it's probably still on my computer at home.

Mostly stuff I would see on the "anime" shelf of Blockbuster as a kid but could never rent, like Burn Up or Dirty Pair or Dragon Half, etc, until I see it on here getting a bluray release or something. Or it sits in DVD purgatory, like Spriggan.

There's also probably some from back in the day when my friend and I would watch his older brother's anime stuff, which is where I first saw things like the Cowboy Bebop movie (and series), Ninja Scroll et al.

...I have the LE boxset for Shimoneta promptly displayed with several other LE boxsets including Hyperdimension Neptunia (barely anyone from my past-social circles even remember the pre-Re;Birth PS3 titles), Dimension W, and And You Thought There Is Never a Girl Online? (all but Shimoneta were bought for about 20 bucks each via Rightstuf in 2020) so I could never forget any of those titles~ XD

Anyway, for the longest time, I completely forgot about Gravion Zwei despite, at least, rewatching my Gravion set twice in high school~ (Still a nostalgic for that OP theme~)

Another two from that era of "forgetting about Zwei's existence unintentionally" were Ninja Nonsense and Boogiepop Phantom before Nozomi gave them a blu-ray release~

In fact, at one point, anime like Get Backers, Tenjho Tenge, Le Portrait de Petit Cossette, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, and even Casshern Sins just slipped my mind more so due to them just not being in my collection, let alone two of those at one point were in my DVD collection before giving them away to classmates that wanted them more than I did back then... Still, the fact that even two seasons of Zetsubou got a physical [US] blu-ray release (with physical linear notes for Season 1, digital linear notes for Season 2, during initial release) was like an anime bucket list item fulfilled for me~
