Default White Christmas 4K Possibility?

Due to family issues most of Christmas was a non-event.

My wife and I decided to enjoy some festivities, albeit late (even for the Orthodox!) and tonight we are watching White Christmas on our 65" LG OLED.

The Blu-ray looks great, much improved over the DVD in my opinion, but I believe UHD would take it another level.

Has anyone heard rumor or inkling of a 4K release?

I was watching "To Catch a Thief" last night in 4K Dolby Vision on Vudu and while obviously stunned by the transfer but my mind kept wandering to "what would Paramount's transfer of this Vistavision feature, 'White Christmas' look like in 4K??"

For now, no. But I wouldn't hope too much, at least to me it's not a title Paramount would spend in

Well, the "prequel" to White Christmas, Holiday Inn may get a 4K release this year, but no word on WC sadly.

So guessing we're getting one in 2024 for the 70th anniversary?

Its a paramount title, I'd say this is the most likely scenario since they love their anniversaries

Fingers crossed. Would be phenomenal on my Big Screen tv. Almost worth buying a laser projector.

Maybe Paramount will wait to release it on UHD during Christmas season.

By the way, I love the possibility of us getting three Vista Vision titles on UHD this year (North By Northwest, The Searchers, White Christmas). And we could get Ben-Hur, which is 70mm, in UHD! And Disney's Sleeping Beauty is having its special anniversary this year, and I hope doesn't wait further to give us an UHD of it, it was shot on Technirama!

Wait, so the stream of To Catch A Thief is not the horrible DNR mess of the 2020 blu-ray?

Oh yeah I have it on iTunes and the 4K stream of To Catch a Thief is as garbage as the remastered BD.

How is the HDR and color? Not that they would make up for such horrible DNR mess, but I'm curious.

Oh and the colours are lovely and there's clearly a substantial uptick in detail.

Thank you for the info. The blu-ray already looked great. I am excited for the 4K UHD disk release in DV.

I think there's a 99% chance it gets released before Christmas. Paramount loves anniversaries and the 4K restoration is already available digitally.
