How do you add/edit a cast list? - Blu-ray Forum

Some movie & series entries have a clickable "Edit cast & crew" just to the right of "Edit Movie." Other titles do not. When I click "Edit movie" on a title with no cast listed, I see no option to add/edit the cast.

How do I add/edit a cast list for a title that doesn't have "Edit cast & crew" as a clickable field?

In a perfect world all DVD, Blu-ray, UV, etc. entries would be linked to a Master Movie ID aka Theatrical Entry. Where you go to the search bar at the top of every page on the site, click on "Movies" and your search turns up something like this: https://www.blu-ray.com/Charlies-Angels/164114/ Many are linked, but not always.

I think what is happening is one of two things, with the latter being more probable. a) that the dvd you are looking at is linked, but has no cast and crew entered in the Master movie ID, so there is nothing to edit, or b) that it is not linked.

If the Master Movie ID exists to be linked to then it's pretty simple to do so. Find that ID first, make sure you have the right one, and get the numbers from the very end of the url. If it were Charlie's Angels then it would be 164114.

Then edit the dvd by clicking on the "Edit Movie" option. That would bring you to a whole different looking screen, but the first option will be "Master movie ID". Enter the correct number there, and press Enter/Return. Then it will be submitted to an approval person who will review it and hopefully approve it. That review process can take anywhere from hours to days, but will result in them then being linked (if approved).

If the Master movie ID exists but is missing the Cast and crew completely that you need then you will have to add them, which is pretty simple. The site likes to see them listed in the same order as IMDb, so bring up the show there, and then start adding names here in the same order (making sure it is the right person, as sometimes more than one actor with the same name exists). Sometimes an actor will not be in our database at all, so they will need to be added. It's easy to do that by going to an existing actor's page, where the "Add new cast" option appears. Click on that and it will take you to this screen: https://www.blu-ray.com/products/?c=...ion=addproduct which you would then fill in with that cast's info, as much as you can.

The last possibility that occurs to me is that there is no existing Master Movie ID aka Theatrical Entry to link to. In that case one would need to be created, which is another process. Ask again if that is the case. An example or two of where the problem is would help me, or someone else, more quickly identify the problem and better help too.

Master Movie IDs are missing for nine of the first 36 DVDs I added, that's why there's no cast list. (Several DVDs I sought to put in don't even have a page).

So what I really need is to learn how to create Master Movie IDs. As this is essentially distinct from the title of this thread, I will create a new thread to ask how to do this there.

I'm a new user trying to edit the crew list on the 2024 film Reagan. I don't see the "Edit Movie" option on any movie on this website, let alone the Reagan film I'm trying to edit. I also don't know where to find the "Master Movie ID" that is mentioned in this thread so I can't tell if that's the problem I'm experiencing. Can I get help on this?

You need to be a member for 30 days and maybe have 10 posts before you can make any edits.
