Doh, French only subs. I'd love to get this, but my French isn't good enough. FWIW, Vudu has Part 1 D'Artagnan...with an English audio track...

Strike that, the French language version is on the Vudu release, but as an extra.

Not much interest in these movies from other distributors it seems. Not a single half decent English friendly release.

Samuel Goldwyn Films, I believe, released the first one in the US last week, but it was such a limited run that there isn't even any tracking on how much it made.

Would be good if there was an English friendly option/release at some point. Saw this on the big screen a few nights ago. Enjoyed and would like to own it on disc.

I'll probably end up grabbing the French releases and using the external subtitle feature on the UB820, as I don't see these getting better editions in terms of Video/Audio.

iTunes US has this bundle in 4K with English subtitles but no HDR on sale for $9.99.

The UB820 has an external subtitle feature? My UB9000 doesn’t.

It's built into it but software locked (probably for legal reasons). The region free modes and patches can enable it tho.

Mine is region free modded from 220 Electronics but it didn’t unlock that feature.

Have you actually tried it? You need to name the subtitle file "sub" (with .srt extension and UTF-8 formatting), and place it in a folder also called "sub" at the root of a FAT formatted USB stick.

The additional options, such as external ones, will only appear during video playback when you go to the "Subtitle Settings" menu.

Are you using the official software by Panasonic or a modded version? I've tried this with my regular one and it didn't work.

I'm using the patched firmware from the AVForum thread. Like I said, this feature is built into the player (both the UB820 and the UB9000) but you can't access it as the menu is hidden, but the modified firmware can enable it.

Thanks so much for the link. I clicked through a few pages of this very long thread and saw that someone made a lengthy, beginner-grade explanation over at Movieside in Germany, which comes in handy for me. I have no experience with all this and am a bit scared of doing something wrong but this is as comprehensive as it can get: https://www.movieside.de/threads/gui...-ub9004.22660/

I think I'll give it a try once they have a flashed 1.82 up as I've already updated my players.

I did try this awhile back with a subtitle file that nicwood provided. I tried it again today just to double check and it didn’t work. I just used a random Blu-ray disc to have something operating but the option does not appear.

Shame, maybe get in contact with 220 and ask them about a custom firmware.

I still need to update to 1.82 so when I ask them for it I’m also going to ask them if they are going to add this feature if they haven’t already. It doesn’t sound like it should be hard for them to do.

Just for the record, the file I provided you with (Le magnifique if I remember correctly?) is properly working as I’m using one of the two myself, not via the Panasonic player though. Hope you’re getting this sorted out!

I think you provided two different files for Le Magnifique and one for Adieu Poulet.
