The West Wing

The West Wing has finally been released on Blu-ray in the US. Here are the specs and some other facts about the release.

Video: 1080p
Aspect ratio: 16x9 (all seasons)
Audio: DTS-HD MA 2.0 Stereo
Languages: English only
Subtitles: English SDH
Region: No region code stated, indicating the set is region-free

Aspect ratio - Season one has been cropped to 16:9 from original 4:3. Seasons two - seven are also 16:9 as originally filmed. Having tested episodes from seasons one and two on my upscaling 4k player, I did not notice any difference in image quality between seasons one and two.

Recaps - Episodes no longer open with "previously on The West Wing..." recaps. In this release, they start with the episode title card.

Packaging - There are four discs per season, 28 discs total. These are divided into two cases. There is one disc per spindle. The discs are overlapped up to two deep. The spindles are too tight for my comfort. I intend to repack the series in generic cases.
