So, just BD for this version. Super fast release time too. Kind of a shame since it felt like the movie got royal treatment on UHD with the 4 discs for both cuts ala Logan.

This IMHO was funnier than the R version.

Can anyone please explain to me what exactly is this movie? I haven't followed any news about it... and at my local theater I only saw movie posters for it about 2 weeks ago.

Is it just Deadpool 2 with deleted scenes added? Or did they re-edit the movie and also take parts of DP2 out?

I'm just confused

Thanks!

1. Edited to a hard PG-13

2. Deleted scenes added back in

3. Special inserts added featuring new footage of Fred Savage and Ryan Reynolds

4. Its presented like The Princess Bride with Deadpool forcibly telling the story to Savage along with having banter between them

It's a PG-13 edited version of Deadpool 2 with around 20 minutes of added scenes, including some post-credit stuff.

Best to watch this trailer for it:

They filmed about 20 new minutes, and replaced some existing scenes with the new material, creating a Pg-13 edit of the film. However, the fact that it's now Pg 13 is part of the gag, with Deadpool using a buzzer to bleep out curse words.

The new scenes are Deadpool reading to Frederick Savage, returning as the kid from princess bride. Deadpool "reads" to him the violent parts, rather than showing it.

Short version: Alternative cut of Deadpool 2, now Pg-13

I'm waiting until there's an Super Ultimate Deluxe Deadpool 2 Blu-ray with the theatrical, extended and PG-13 version all in one set.

Cool, I was hoping this would get a release. I’m kinda surprised it’s not getting a steelbook, but this’ll be a fun addition nonetheless.

No 4K release? haha

Btw, I have the feeling this will easily get down to 9.99 on BD very soon if its already at $14.99 at release.

I will add that there's speculation that this is Disney's warm up for a PG-13 Deadpool going forward.

It only made $6 million, so I think they’ll stick to it being an R-rated franchise. Fox released this also because they needed something to fill their holiday slot due to Battle Angel not being completed on time.

I saw this theatres and half way through I just thought; 'I have the unrated version and R rated version at home, why the hell am I here'.

While the Fred Savage stuff was fun, most of the other added delete scenes were either scenes in the unrated cut censored (and made less funny because of it) or new footage that was decent but honestly wasn't anything to write home about. I guess I can recommend it if you REALLY don't want to show your kid/family the uncensored versions, but I can't recommend it for anything other than that. It also definitely showcases the limits of the PG-13 (not a single drop of blood in this entire version). I'll buy it just so I have all 3 versions of the movie, but it definitely isn't my preferred cut. I can't even say this is just a TV edit of Deadpool 2, because majority of TV edits keeps most of the graphic violence. Honestly, this should've been a more creative PG-13 recap of both movies, it would've been more unique that way.

Also, keeping 'Welcome to the Party' for the Colossus/Juggernaut fight instead of using the vastly better 'Fight Dirty' song choice also drops it several points. The removal of the '9 to 5' scene also wasn't ideal.

Pretty sure it's the opposite. The overarching meta joke of this cut is that they're calling attention to the fact that PG-13 isn't a natural state for this character. Now that that's been acknowledged in a theatrically released film it's all but guaranteed that all entries going forward will be rated R.

Disney does not have any control of Deadpool, X-Men, or any Fox properties until the deal is closed. Every decision being made is Fox’s own. Reynolds only included the Disney joke as a jab to Disney denying the larger Frozen joke in the all three versions of Deadpool 2.

Further both Bob Iger and Kevin Fiege have stated to the press that Deadpool will not be changed from its R rating. Further, further, Disbey ha sthe R rated Daredevil and The Punisher along with This Isn’t Working as streaming exclusives.

It was worth it for the Fred Scenes alone.

From what I’ve read Fox wanted to make an edited version of Deadpool 2 so they can show the movie in the country’s that banned the R rated cut. When Ryan found out he had the brilliant idea of the Fred Savage framing device, giving foreign markets a little extra since so much of the movie was going to be edited out.
This supposedly is also going to be the cut of the movie that will play on network TV and some airplanes.
I think since Fox pushed back Alita Battle Angel they figured they might as well try milking the edited cut of DP2 here in the states by giving it the limited theatrical release

I'll certainly buy it one day! I love Princess Bride and Deadpool, so it's a win-win! However, I'll simply add the disc to my regular Deadpool 2 edition, no need to have two cases for an alternate edit.
