I was REALLY excited for this when the ESRB rating leaked that this was coming to Switch. And sure enough... a physical copy is coming to North America... for $75 regular edition, $260 limited edition! And ONLY available on the Square Enix online store, which charged like $22 for shipping, pushing the price tag to almost $100 regular, $300 limited edition. Yikes.
![]() WTF is Square Enix thinking here? There are some graphical and gameplay improvements, but nothing dramatic with this version. Square Enix is rightfully getting a ton of online hate over this obvious cash grab. Even worse, the regular edition is already sold out. I'm really undecided on even getting this collection at this point. https://nintendoeverything.com/final...ion-available/ https://store.na.square-enix-games.c...lection-switch https://store.na.square-enix-games.c...edition-switch ![]() |

Funny thing is I laughed at the ridiculously overprices Octopath Traveler II limited edition at $180, but it's actually $80 less than the FF limited edition and seems to come with better stuff.
And yep, scalpers are already dropping the limited edition on Ebay for well over $300 plus shipping. |

I think situations like this will become more and more common as physical media dwindles. If you want a physical copy then you'll have to pay up and get a ton of extra trinkets that no one really needs to force you into paying more.

It’s not listed as pending on my account, which tends to happen with those. Some people were saying they weren’t charged and that for the first half hour it didn’t mention it was a pre-order on the site, which is probably what caused it. I reached out to customer service but I hear they are extremely slow with ticket responses so I may be waiting some time to hear back.

I have no plans to sell my copy. I’m concerned because I’ve been charged $105 for something that’s not out for 5-6 months when the website says they don’t charge until 2-3 weeks before shipping.

Stupid ass Square Enix. Would of totally bought a regular physical version. Price is kind of steep, but all things considered, not a bad deal I guess. No way I'm paying for the expensive version, just for the games. I flat out don't buy digital games on consoles anymore. I don't trust any of them with digital anymore. Sony stole my money. Microsoft steals from people. Nintendo hates preservation and can't be trusted. I buy physical, because I can for sure own it. There's also other ways to acquire updates/patches and back up those too.
Only buy digital on Steam now. With Fanatical.com and Humble Bundle, and better sales, I typically can get games for a fraction of the price I could on consoles anyway. Yay Steam Deck. Thankfully these are on Steam as well, and kind of go on sale too. Stupid stupid Square Enix. |

I've noticed quite a few Ebay sellers pulling some shady stuff with those anniversary editions. Since you technically receive the physical game packaged separately from the rest of the items with that edition, they're selling the extra stuff minus the game for around $300, then selling the game by itself for another $200. Square Enix botched a simple FF collection in every possible way, creating a scalper's paradise.

The whole thing doesn't make any sense; instead of tightly restricting quantities, why not have an open pre-order period of whatever length, then just print however many copies you get orders for? Even if they didn't want to do a wide release for some reason, what they're doing is just leaving lots of money on the table.

Square gonna Square.
I gave up buying from them except if I can combine shipping with a friend. We grabbed the Octopath Traveler vinyl and splitting the shipping helped. Their vinyl prices are already absurdly priced, combined with their insane shipping prices, they can f*ck right off. Their shipping prices are absolutely unacceptable and straight up gouging the customer. It does not cost anything more than 5-6 bucks to ship a regular game inside the US, anything more than that is greed. I was going to grab the standard edition of this. But I am not paying close to 100 bucks, for a 75 dollar switch game, they should be shipping it for free. |

They have about 6 records I would love to buy, but I cannot justify paying their already insane vinyl prices (40-50 bucks per single LP) and then paying absurd shipping prices. And because they keep their stuff store exclusive, that's the only way. At least do "spend over 150 get free shipping" or something. |
