Default Atomfall

Kinda looks like if Fallout and Elder Scrolls had a baby.

Quote:
A nuclear disaster has left an area of Britain in tatters. Atomfall, a new survival-action game, will see you explore, scavenge, craft, barter and fight your way through beautifully recreated scenery in search of answers.

Coming to Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC in 2025.

A single player, survival-action game, Atomfall blends post-war Britain with Cold War paranoia, folk horror, and elements of classic British sci-fi like Day of the Triffids, Doctor Who and The Prisoner, to create an immersive and thrilling gameplay experience.

Set in the rolling British countryside with idyllic pubs, quaint villages, and red phone boxes it soon becomes clear that things are far from normal.
Created by Rebellion, the makers of the much-loved Sniper Elite and Zombie Army franchises, Atomfall is inspired by a real-world nuclear disaster that occurred in northern England in 1957. The game follows a fictional storyline where you find yourself in the quarantine zone five years after the event.

Everything has changed in that time, and you find yourself in a very different Britain, on the wrong side of the quarantine wall. The area is run by the military and beset with factions, in-fighting, and a growing sense of fear.

It’s up you to unravel the mystery of what happened. Explore the countryside, villages, and settlements and meet odd people, wicked cults, rogue government agencies and others along the way.
Explore this open world adventure and seek out the truth at your own pace.

Set in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, Atomfall tasks players with solving the mystery of what happened at the Windscale nuclear power station. To solve this, you will need to navigate military encampments, delve through abandoned bunkers below ground, and risk your life in Pagan ruins.

Central to the dark mystery are the host of eccentric characters and cryptic organisations that inhabit the quarantine zone. These individuals have been cut off from the outside world for years and left to their own devices, so are anything but normal. But be careful, they aren’t all friendly and you will need to get to grips with an array of ranged and melee weapons if you are to survive!

Atomfall features:
• A single player survival-action game, drawing from science fiction, folk horror, and Cold War influences.

• Explore a dark and foreboding world with varying environments and locations.

• Uncover leads through investigation, exploration, conversation and combat as you attempt to solve a mystery inspired by classic British science fiction such as The Day of the Triffids, early Doctor Who, and The Quatermass Experiment.

• Desperate high stakes combat blends expert marksmanship with vicious hand-to-hand combat.

• Craft items and weapons that may save your life, ransack ruined houses for supplies, and even unearth hidden treasures using your trusty metal detector.

• Define your character through interactions with NPCs, light RPG elements, and skill trees.

Anybody start this up? Played for around 2 hours and found it incredibly dull.

I was going to check it out, but all games are canceled while I’m on vacation

Actually did play for a bit over the weekend (since I needed one more Game Pass title for the monthly "8 pack" in the Xbox app), definitely a slow build. Not very compelling yet, I wonder how long you have to play to get to the stuff from the trailer that looked interesting?

Me too. Maybe I played for about an hour. Jurassic graphics and clunky movement make for an unimpressive experience. The combat, oof! It just doesn't feel like a contemporary game at all.
