Of course. I literally broke down and bought the Criterion 4K Saturday. I actually like the Criterion packaging unlike most collectors but I'm more of a steelbook guy.

Man, just after buying the Criterion with the crappy sleeves. Would have definitely waited had I known!

Not to mention the 4k disc is scratched as well as the replacement disc Criterion sent!

Wonder if the transfer will be as good or better?

This might be Film4's first 4K disc, although I was expecting Arrow to release it on 4K in the UK.

Will take the US Criterion version over this steelbook any day. Yes, the Criterion packaging isn’t the best but at least it isn’t a crappy steelbook.

From what I read it's the same disc which I thought was director approved. What's wrong with Criterion's encode?

It may be the same master, but it'll probably be re-encoded for Film4's disc. Criterion's encoding team has a mixed track record. I think their Trainspotting disc looks solid overall, but there are instances with higher grain/noise levels that look a bit poor.
