I saw IF in theaters, and while I normally like Krasinski's and Reynolds's work, I felt like IF was very uneven. It occasionally did soar, but it didn't know what it wanted to do with its characters, including the IFs. This led to a disjointed plot and a number of misfired efforts by the characters that didn't pay off, vacillating between too serious and then sharply swinging into silliness.

That's perhaps my biggest gripe with the film, is the payoffs are minimal. The overall plot idea and story is fine, but the execution is muddled and disjointed. It also markets itself as a movie for children when the story is geared directly at cynical adults and older teenagers.

Personally, I feel like IF is a 6/10. A fine effort, but half-baked, lacking balance between comedy and serious matters.

Was planning on going with the family to see it in theaters but just didn’t work out. Bought it during Target’s sale / promo to save a few bucks. Hope it’s worth it!
