USA The Love Light (1921) - The Mary Pickford Collection (VCI Entertainment)

VCI will be releasing a new Mary Pickford film The Love Light (1921) tentatively on December 10th. The film had been considered long lost at one point. The reconstruction of the film was done by UCLA Film and TV Archive for The Mary Pickford Foundation, and then handed to VCI for final restoration work. You can see a glimpse of the restoration in the video below.

Quote:
Description: The Love Light takes place during the first World War, where Mary Pickford plays a young Italian woman, Angela Carlotti, who tends the local lighthouse and falls in love with a man she rescues from the sea. Her small village suffers devastating losses from the war, and when Angela realizes her lover is a German spy, the story takes a dramatic and unexpected turn. Angela must come to terms with her mistakes and set things right while finding her strength through such troubled times. Angela's bravery and beautiful spirit bring love and light into the lives of those around her, giving hope for a brighter future after so much pain and heartache.

Mary's dear friend, Frances Marion wrote and directed the film which features Frances's husband, Fred Thomson, as Mary's love interest. The Love Light was filmed in Carmel and Monterey, California which masqueraded as the Italian coastline and the stunning cinematography of Henry Cronjager and Charles Rosher, is revelatory today.

Restoration note:

Filmed in 1912, a collaboration between friends, Mary Pickford and Frances Marion, this silent gem was reconstructed from multiple sources by UCLA Film and TV Archive for the Mary Pickford Foundation. Then passed on to VCI Entertainment for final restoration before global re-release. Final restoration by Tiffany L Clayton on behalf of VCI Entertainment.

Great news! Lets HOPE they both include the booklet, and label the discs correctly after the last couple of release cock-ups!

Do you know if they ever added the booklet to the Joanna Enlists Blu-ray?

Ahh ..thanks for the info. I wonder if they're still sending out booklets to customers that purchased the Blu-ray.

Very excited about this one! As a Pickford superfan, Blu-ray announcements don't get any more exciting than this!! And Pickford is simply enchanting in this film. Gorgeous cinematography. And I'm so relieved to hear a dramatic period appropriate orchestral score!
