The two relatively hard core action films that share the music director, many members of the cast, etc. One film was widely appreciated at the time of its release while the other slowly & steadily gained following over the years. In both films, the lead character is invited to an event where his path crosses with the villain’s.

Die Hard has a memorable performance from Alan Rickman (Bruce Willis is playing Bruce Willis), while License to Kill has Timothy Dalton firing all cylinders as a rogue agent.
