Unfortunately Turbine seems to gone where the fence has been lowest. I see some seriously EE on this one. I would stay away from that.

I don't know much about technical details. The new transfer looks a little rougher, yes, but it also looks sharper so I can't tell if it's the new transfer that's been overworked or if it's the US transfer that was smoothed over.

Either way. Can't. Stay. Away.

After receiving this I gotta say, I don't regret buying it but I would recommend it only to die hard fans of the movie.

The packaging does look pretty badass and will look great in your collection (if that's a movie you're proud to advertise). Extras are few but I believe that's the most we'll ever get unless they went back to get current interviews. I do appreciate the extended strip scene from the unrated VHS being included... will I ever watch the whole 9min? Probably not. But knowing it exists it's nice to have it.

The transfer is not great. It's not terrible either and it's not like the US transfer blew your mind to begin with.

Now the main reason I'd still tell most people to buy the R rated version is that the main difference is really the intro strip sequence. It's MUCH longer in the unrated version (with extra shots in lower res) and while I love the music, Pam and that whole intro.... it's just waaaay too long when the movie has not even started. Not only does it not help with story development but it really comes in the way. So if you have friends who are willing to give the movie a shot and you show them this, they'll give up on the it within the first 3 minutes, telling you it's just an excuse to see Pamela Anderson's boobs.

Still happy I got it. Love the movie and love the whole context in which it came out and the memories attached to it.

I know that 4k don’t have a region. From the listing on bluray.com it looks like the blu ray version of this movie is region A and B. Can someone please verify this for me? Thanks.

Both the 2018 BD and the one included in the 4K release are region free, but only the one from the 4K set is remastered.
