Warner Bros. announced Friday that Nolan's next film will open in IMAX on July 17, 2020.

Nothing else is known about Nolan’s latest venture, which is described as event film. The writer-director has a propensity for secrecy, writing his scripts away from any prying eyes. And he is of such a stature that he can attract the actors he wants, packaging his project with thespians, then present it to a studio with what amounts to a simple yes or no question: Are you in or are you out?

Nolan has a predisposition for July releases. Of the filmmaker’s last five movies, four have opened in that mid-July sweet spot. (Interstellar was the exception, opening in November 2014). The filmmaker is coming off of the World War II film Dunkirk, which won three Academy Awards and earned the filmmaker his first best director Oscar nomination. The Warner Bros. film earned $526.9 globally.

I want a horror film. He's tackled Sci-Fi, War, Mystery, Action, Thriller, and Crime I'd love to see what Nolan could come up with for horror.

I'm quite fond of his recent movies so i'll be interested to see what project he's putting together but i wonder how big and grand he's planning to go and i quite liked Interstellar.

It's another Interstellar movie, but from Romilly's point of view as he waits 23 years on the Endurance for the rest of the crew to return. I bet he gets up to some crazy stuff on there!

Me too. And you know what? I'd like to see him tackle a much more condensed film too while we're at it, particularly 90-100 minutes (including credits). Dunkirk was his shortest in a while at 107 min w/ credits.

If he can give us one of the most interesting horror films of this generation while keeping away from his usual 2hr+ affair, then there's no dispute that this man can practically do anything.

Undoubtedly missing the qualifier "Million," but it's still absurd to think about: Dunkirk only making $500.00 at the box office globally. Holy crap, what a flop! How is this man even still in business?

A Nolan horror film could be truly epic. But I sadly doubt we'll see it. I hope I'm wrong, though.
