Feeling acutely sad during Dumbo, at the bit where the mother dies or he loses her or something.
Feeling acutely weirded-out during the pink elephants on parade sequence. Whichever comes first in the movie, I can't remember. |

My parents took me to see several movies in the theater when I was just a baby. The first movie I distinctly remember seeing in the theater was the original version of "101 Dalmatians" when it was re-released in 1991.

The earliest recollection is seeing The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes. I would have been 9 years old.

Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind when I was six.
Feeling awe at what was on the screen, and also at the idea that someone MADE THIS, and all these strangers in the dark were gasping and laughing and reacting together, as one. |

First live action movie was The Goonies at the age of 9
My first theater experience in general was with an animated movie at the age of 6-7. It was either Robin Hood (1973) or The Smurfs and the Magic Flute (1975). |

Young Frankenstein at a drive-in when I lived in Minnesota.
If drive-ins don't count, it may have been Godzilla Vs Megalon. They were handing out promotional pins and it's one of the first collectibles I ever owned. Godzilla Vs Megalon Lobby Pin Jet Jaguar.JPG |

Watching Star Wars with my sisters in the Summer of 1977. I was four. It was the first of many times I watched it in the theater. I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind with my parents in November of that year.
I still love both movies. |

I've never seen the original version of the first Star Wars trilogy in a theater; I wasn't born until a few months after "The Empire Strikes Back" was released. So I'm a second-generation fan all the way, which probably keeps me objective since I don't see them as untouchable.
