Default Star Trek Deep Space Nine

So have been watching this again, I have lost count how many times.
I was kind of wondering when the writers decided, that The Founders were Changelings.

In 2x26 A Vorta makes an attempt to defect. When she see's ODO she does not react to him at all. For story purposes she could have been programed. Yet I wonder if they originally had other plans for The Founders.

From what I've read I think they decided the Founders were Changelings in S3x01, The Search.

I think the bigger problem is they hadn't nailed down how they wanted the Vorta to be. This Vorta also was the only one they ever showed having telekinesis.

You're not supposed to recognize him because of the goatee.

I always put down the Vorta’s non-reaction to Odo being part of her deception. I also have my doubts about the telekinesis being genuine - more of a stunt to observe/test Sisko’s reaction.

Right as part of the story it looks that way. External to that I don't think they knew when writing the script. That is fine stories adapt on their own sometimes, and things just feel like they line up.

Also it's likely that the Founders only looked as they did was because they were trying to make Odo feel more comfortable. The Founder's appearance to the Vorta may have been very different so she didn't recognize what Odo was.

This actor is Marc Alaimo. He plays Gul Dukat on DS9, but on this TNG episode he is Cardassian Gul Macet.

I always took it that the Founders mimicked Odo’s appearance to make him feel more comfortable when he first met them. That hadn’t happened yet in The Jem’Hadar so Eris wouldn’t have necessarily recognised that Odo was a Founder if they usually appeared in another form.

That is a possibility also. There was a similar situation on the Next Generation where they abandoned the bug parasites in favor of The Borg. They sighted budget concerns with the bugs as the reason.

RIP George Wendt, aka Norm from Cheers, whom DS9’s Morn was named after.

One dropped storyline that I wish would have continued was Admiral Ross being aware of Section 31. Then also protecting Sloan.
