Default I'm Envious of the Purple People!

Winning is great. It's a great feeling to know that I won't have to go out and rebuy my HD library or buy a new HD player. Still, the purple(especially the red die hards) people have access to everything we don't. All studios. Sure, they may have to rebuy some titles, but today they have access to all studios without having to wait for Paramount and Universal to get off their collective butts and start (re)releasing on Blu.

Not envious in the least. Do I wish I had some of the films currently only available on red? Sure. Am I willing to invest money in a dead format player, invest money in discs that someday will not be playable, find yet more space in my home theatre setup and add even more cabling just to play a select few discs? Absolutely not.

I don't care, I'll wait. Patience is a virtue. Because so many of us never turned purple this damn thing is finally over.

Sounds like you are trying to tell us you want a HD DVD player?

Shame...

Where do you guys come from. I said envious, not jealous. No one is saying not to get an HD-DVD player. What I am saying is that they get to partake in the fruits resulting from the end of the war today. Patience is two years of solid Blu. I'd like to enjoy all the films today. Had enough of this BS.

since Blu-ray has much better technical spezifications, we will get the upcomming releases from para and uni in a much better version then the ones on HD DVD! Maybe not the first releases, they will be probably 1:1 copys from the HD DVDs, but the Day&Date releases later this year will be made for blu-ray technical spezifications

Some of you are still missing the point. It is not which releases will be better. We know Blu is better. It is the fact, that today, knowing the outcome of the war, they can start buying the titles they held out for. They have access to our studios TODAY. It's time to get Universal and Paramount on board sooner than later. Why should those guys have all the fun?!

From someone who is ''purple' there is absolutley no reason for Blu ray customers to be envious or jealous because sooner or later Blu will get the movies. Me, I couldnt wait to see Zodiac, Transformers, and the Bourne trilogy ,and with 9 free movies a 1080p HD DVD player for $150 dollars was worth it. Will I throw it out when it becomes extinct? No, because most "red" titles wont be out until 2009 and 2010, and then ill just pass it off to my younger brother who will be in college with no money to his name

I don´t get it. Most purple people (like me) have bought movies on both formats for a long time. Or are you talking about "new" purple guys?

Btw there will be no need to "rebuy" movies on Blu-ray, as long as they don´t get a new transfer. Except maybe for those who feel compelled to get rid of their HD DVD gear & movies now. I think most "purples" will keep their HD DVD stuff and simply start buying the new movies on blu from now on.

I think of it this way: Being envious of movies that arent on Blu-ray yet, is like being envious of a peanut butter & jelly sandwich an hour before lunch time.

Not much longer!

Not really. I don't have to have all the movies right now. I can wait until they come out on BD.

If you're that envious, you can always pick up one of the players on firesale and buy HD-DVD movies. It's your money. But, are you that impatient?

only problem is when HDDVD is dead and gone and your player breaks, then what? The media will long out live the player. Wouldnt suprise me if the Toshiba Blu-ray player that they release plays HDDVD

Yeah I'm not either. Mainly because the studios are bound to come out with the lossless versions of all the HD-DVDs already out.

Well, I expect some people will pick up HD DVD players and movies in the coming 4-8 months.

HD DVD will go the way of the laserdisc. Look for very cheap players and give-away prices on the movies. I think it's only a matter of time before all those HD DVDs drop to about $10. Companies have to turnover inventory.

I have a friend who never listened to me about BLU until the end. He has loads, and I means loads, of HD DVDs. Nothing like seeing the value of your 100 or whatever HD DVDs plummet.
