Seems to be down for a blu ray release, but no proper artwork yet or release date, although the amazon streaming date is February 13th.

Having been sent a review disc a couple of weeks back, I can confirm that the film itself features a 1.85:1-framed 1080p encode with a choice of DTS-HD MA 5.1 and DTS-HD MA 2.0 stereo soundtracks. Extras take the form of a commentary from Ken Loach and Paul Laverty, a look at the making of the film entitled How to Make a Ken Loach Film (38mins 05secs) and seven deleted scenes (7mins 38secs).

Apologies for the delayed response. Anyway, the disc does include English subtitles.

Even though I do agree with the politics for a large extent, I found the film simplistic, manipulative and ultimately unbelievable.

I would agree, Ian. I admire the fact it's engaging with people and reinforcing frustrations towards the current establishment and their relative lack of compassion for the masses, but certain sections of the dialogue and characterisation in particular seemed to almost be part of a different film entirely. Surprised, as Loach is known for being one of the key voices of social realist cinema and this one felt kinda hashed out.

Worth watching, but no masterpiece. Uncomfortably close to real scenarios we all may have encountered in some scenes, but oversteps the mark in others. More of a talking point than a piece of cinema to cherish.

[Show spoiler]When she gets caught shoplifting and guy is like call me and i'll get you work, please don't be what I think it's gonna be and sure thing it's prostitution

I actually was suppose to talk to Ken on monday but had to cancel, too early and really didn't like the film. A fellow journalist I know did it instead.

Regarding your spoilered comments.

[Show spoiler] It might surprise you to know that its probably a lot more common than you think and although you might find it difficult to believe it's probable that women enter that line of work do so for a number of reasons and never imagined that they ever would. It's no less believable than the portrayals in Mona Lisa. Not all pimps are gangsters, not all working women are runaways or drug addicts.

I think someone like Ken Loach would have done his research very well.

Zavvi is listing this as region free but Amazon is listing it as region B. I love me some Ken Loach so can anyone confirm its region free status, por favor?

Disc is region B only. Just checked it with my player, and it also has a region b logo on the disc.

Looks like this release is a bit problematic. Looks like the main file (movie file) includes some aliasing. It is especially evident in the text for the opening credits. If anyone cares to share some screenshots, that would be great.

I just watched it and yes. The encode is very poor. I think its a great film, but this really got me out of the movie. Such a shame, but eone is gotta be eone.

If it helps, eOne have pretty much ceased operations in the UK.
