A September start of production in Ireland is being planned.

This source material should be dynamite for the screen.

I like the idea of Russell Crowe doing a horror movie. I feel like Russell Crowe doesn't do that many lead roles anymore so its cool to see him actually starring in something again.

That's a good point. I think the last movie I watched where he was the main character was Robin Hood.

The last movie I saw Russell Crowe in was Thor 4, when he played a very arrogant Zeus, in one of his funniest roles.

A strange title, but I guess it means the Pope approved of him to exorcise people and get them back into shape.

My favorite Exorcist movie is still The Exorcist. Just the ghastly make up alone and the voice effects set that film apart from everything else it seems. Seeing a regular looking person acting evil pales in comparison IMO.

Russell Crowe is a good actor, so I'm interested in considering this in theaters. I was honestly expecting at the end "Only available on Netflix" or Paramount, but I see it's Sony, and they don't have a pay subscription channel yet, so hopefully it'll be in theaters and then disc format down the road.

The title, "Pope's Exorcist" had me first wondering if the Pope was possessed and needed an Exorcist, but it's really the Exorcist that the Pope hired to be his Exorcist.
