Wonder if it'll be a steelbook only thing since he specifically talked about it was with a studio that releases a lot of steelbooks, or if he just was using it as a clue to which it could be. Lionsgate Limited does a lot of those, but it's also not even just LL (Forbidden Kingdom wasn't LL but still steelbook). And not all LL are steelbooks (The Surfer).

I would guess the SB would use the same new art they made for theatrical release. It would translate well to a SB in any event. It would be even nicer if it had packaging like the Frailty release though.

Based on Smith's comments, it's going to be a stacked release, so it'll be interesting to see how the Umbrella release compares.

I really hope Frailty’s packaging wasn’t a one-off. You’re right - Dogma would be perfect for it!

Yeah, I'm fully expecting it to go the Lionsgate Limited route.

I'm not disappointed that it isn't Arrow or any of the boutiques, honestly. Lionsgate has been doing good work with their home video releases.

In terms of catching up with more recent title announcements today, let’s start with the big news first: Director Kevin Smith revealed in his Hall H panel on Saturday night down at San Diego Comic-Con that Lionsgate is going to be releasing his newly-remastered Dogma (1999) on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD later this year! (You can watch video of Smith confirming this here on Twitter.) The street date is TBA, but our sources say there will lots of great new extras and there should be both an exclusive 4K Steelbook version from Lionsgate Limited as well as a wide-release 4K SKU.

Lionsgate learned with previous Kevin Smith movies that he has a good physical media market so it won't be surprising if they do the same thing they did with the Tarantino 4Ks. Lionsgate Limited SteelBooks and wide release for standard 4Ks.

Many Kevin Smith fans consider this his best movie, even if it wasn't unavailable for so long it would probably sell well on 4K

I would have to be generous to call it "mediocre". It started off with potential, then squandered it all and felt like another self indulgent Kevin Smith student film. More a series of sketches being thrown at the wall than a "movie". Not that that would be a deal killer had the sketches been funny.

It really may be my least favorite Smith movie - I have not seen Yoga Hosers, though. I think that's the only one I haven't seen.

Smith has always been someone I've liked more than his movies and his recent output hasn't been able to clear the low bar he had set for himself.

I still get everything he puts out (and will likely end up with the Umbrella and Lionsgate releases of "Dogma", a movie I seem to recall thinking was "ok", but Smith sure could attract talent), apparently out of some lingering loyalty towards his early work and how much I like him as a person. I keep rooting for him - I thought "The 4:30 Movie" was gonna be it. For me, it sadly was not.

They better include all those extras from previous releases with Lionsgate Limited edition, which Kevin said will be loaded.

They had 100 minutes of deleted scenes, outtakes and a couple of commentaries on the DVD and BD releases. Shouldn't be hard to include all of those.
