The trailer for the long-delayed sixth Paranormal Activity film (seventh, if you count the non-canon Japanese spinoff) is finally out.
The preview states, probably in response to complaints/jokes that the series revolves around watching nothing for long periods of time, that "For the first time, you will see the activity." They're doing this by taking a page from Fatal Frame and introducing a special camera that can see and record ghosts and demons and other such supernatural energy. It also promises "Every secret will be revealed." Finally, it confirms that the movie is being released in 3D. It looks interesting - more interesting than the last couple, anyway - even if the whole "seeing the activity" thing amounts to black CGI blobs inserted into the footage. That said, even as someone who LOVES 3D, I have to question its use here. It's still a found-footage flick, and this special camera they're using is a VHS camcorder from the 80s, which clearly doesn't record in 3D. It seems like another level of distracting artifice. The movie is slated for release on October 23, towards the end of what's turning out to be a crowded month. |
