Default Untitled (Open World) Star Wars Game | Ubisoft

Quote:
Today, LUCASFILM GAMES announced that it’s entering a partnership with Ubisoft to create an open-world Star Wars game. The title will be developed by Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment, marking the first time that a company outside of EA has produced a Star Wars game since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, ending nearly eight years of exclusivity. Also in the works is a new Indiana Jones game, to be developed by Bethesda Game Studios, a newcomer to Lucasfilm’s and Disney’s properties.

Let’s start with Star Wars. Development on this new title is still very early—Massive is still recruiting for the project even—so details are sparse. Julian Gerighty, director of The Division 2 and The Crew, will serve as the game’s creative director, and the title will use Massive’s Snowdrop engine. Beyond that, Lucasfilm Games hasn’t revealed anything about the characters or settings within the Star Wars universe that the game will feature. ×

Well that didn’t take long. Ubisoft makes some good games but they also put out some garbage; will be interesting to see what comes of this in a few years.

Hope it turns out well as a big Star Wars fan, but man I'm continually getting fatigued on open world games and especially Ubisoft's which I've skipped entirely for a few years now.

That is amazing.
I'm a sucker for Ubi's open-world games (AC:Valhalla and Division 2 are my most played games of the last couple of years).

Now the Ubi formula in the Star Wars Universe? Can't ****in wait!!!

Did Microsoft attempt to make it look like Xbox exclusive?

Hmm. No gameplay footage? Weird and cliched aspirational, you go girl narration too.

There was no mention of it being exclusive. I think the only third party exclusive today was Towerborne, it displayed XGS logo along with the developer Stoic.

All of the games they showed today only had Xbox and PC logos, but it is the same thing as Sony only including PlayStation logos at their events, even for games that are not exclusive (although PS does have a lot of third-party exclusives, not very common on X).

This game is clearly coming to PlayStation 5, as well as Xbox Series and the PC.

The graphics in the trailer look amazing and finally show off what the PS5 can do, can't wait to play. Then Ubisoft says "Gameplay revealed at Ubisoft Forward event".............. That's Ubisoft's style. Show amazing looking CGI graphics of scenes, then the gameplay graphics look like a PS2 game in comparison. They did that with AC: Valhalla too, among many other games.

I'll keep an open mind if it's playable offline. I'm actually surprised to see Ubisoft hasn't folded up but making more games. They put out a statement awhile ago to shift their focus from primarily game development to other forms of entertainment too.

Sometimes I think people forget what PS2 actually looked like, or have only play PS2 via emulation. (or maybe it is just hyperbole)

They do but I'm not sure how much I trust it. Ubisoft are the masters of bullshots and "enhanced" footage of games. Until I actually see someone holding a controller and playing this, I'm going to er on the side skepticism.
