France Miraculous Ladybug sequel

The first Miraculous Ladybug feature film has become "one of the most-watched French animated films worldwide," and a second feature film will "take place partially in Paris," according to L.A.-based Andy Yeatman, who joined Miraculous Corp as CEO in June and has a long history with the brand since he bought the TV show “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir” for Netflix when he worked there in 2015

The sequel to the original film is part of a massive expansion of the franchise, according to Variety:

Quote:
Blockbuster Paris-set animation franchise Miraculous is already turning 10 and it’s up for some major expansions, including revamped designs and new characters in different cities, including Tokyo and Rio, as well as live-action series and theatrical releases.

I really like the first movie, should have gotten a full theatrical release, and really needs a US blu ray release. As for the sequel, hope they don't screw it up and ruin what good will the first one gave me since I have long since given up on the TV series.

I did finally get to see the first movie on disc and it was generally good. The classic animation from this team shined through in the film as it does in the series. Very good animators and good character designs/story concept IMO.

I guess a sequel would get the same ignored treatment in the US as the first film did. Maybe no big film distributor wanted to promote the film in theaters.

Netflix does the same thing with almost all of their movies

I was thinking "that IS pretty miraculous considering Rodney Dangerfield and Jonathan Brandis have both been dead for 20 years.."

...then I saw the rest of the thread..

It was released on blu-ray in Europe, maybe you can buy one of those online?

The Netflix films do get buried on their streaming service with no chance of a disc release, that's true.

I imported the disc version, but it's of the DVD. I really wanted the blu ray but ended up with DVD.

DVD. It still looked good, but not blu ray quality unfortunately. Netflix locks all their content digitally sadly. Not happy about when things get announced by Netflix. I don't subscribe to them.

Thank you for confirming. Yeah, Netflix releases rarely ever get physical media releases. I'm sure the only reason Miraculous Ladybug got one is because it had a theatrical release in most of the rest of the world. I'll have to look at importing the Blu-Ray then.

Jeremy Zag teases the sequel will have emotional depth "It's going to hurt, a lot."
