Look, the Motion Comic is great and all, but the choice to use one narrator for all the voices was.... not the best. So, at the very least, we'll have a more approachable direct translation of the comic. That said, I'd rather they redub the Motion Comic than whatever this is going to be.

I'm a casual Watchmen fan (I have almost all the graphic novels, and I bought the Ultimate collection on Blu and did some case swapping to slide in a DVD of the theatrical cut into the box, plus the tv show) so I'm always interested in a little more, but not if this is lazy hack job.

At best I'll wait for a cheap used copy down the road.

Good for the fans but I tried DCEU animated comics on iTunes (30 films for just $7.99 with most of them being 4K Dolby Vision) and sadly not my cuppa Tea. Thought my son would like them but he didn't either.

The animated feature is a faithful adaptation of the groundbreaking graphic novel series by writer Alan Moore and illustrator Dave Gibbons, which redefined the superhero genre when it debuted in the mid-1980s.

Watchmen Chapter I delves into the gritty and complex world of masked vigilantes in an alternate version of America during the Cold War era. The “Watchmen” saga remains a cornerstone of comic book literature, having garnered numerous awards and accolades over the decades.



The adaptation captures the spirit and style of Moore and Gibbons’ original, groundbreaking vision with stunning animation that pays homage to the comic book’s iconic visual style. The film features a stellar voice cast that includes Matthew Rhys (TV’s “Brothers & Sisters,” “The Americans,” “Perry Mason”) Katee Sackhoff (TV’s “Battlestar Galactica,” “Longmire,” “The Mandalorian”) and Titus Welliver (TV’s “Lost,” “Deadwood,” “Sons of Anarchy”).

It looks... okay, but I worry about what's the point, we have the graphics novel to read, Snyder's pretty great film in multiple cuts, and even the motion comic.

Why should we feel we need an animated adaptation?

Why should we feel we need an animated adaptation?

As they own the franchise (by way of owning DC), they have to keep looking at ways to make money off of it. They already have teams of animators cranking out other DC movies, and Watchmen has been a popular franchise for them, so it does sem like easy money.
