Someone already spotted that it's the documentary 'Life After Flash'. So that's 1x UHD, 3x BD for 1080p presentation, bonus features and LAF, and one CD for the Queen soundtrack.

It reports that the team who worked on StudioCanal’s 4K restorations of the John Carpenter catalogue have been at work on Flash Gordon, and that includes the Queen soundtrack too. What’s more, the work is pretty much complete, and the release is edging closer.

We now learn too that not only is a physical Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray release planned of the movie, the film is also set to return to cinemas for a day in May. The exact date hasn’t yet been confirmed, but you can bet we’ll keep you posted.

And more news too on that physical release: a five-disc collectors’ edition Blu-ray set – five discs! – is being lined up for June, as well as the 4K release. And we’ll have a lot more news on all of this as we get it. It’s not gone up for pre-order yet, and we’ll bring you the link when it does.

Maybe some feature length documentary on the making of the film? perhaps one of the old serials?

I guess, but they haven't put a DVD into one of these deluxe 4K sets yet so I didn't even think of it. I know that some people feel that putting a 1080p disc in with a 4K is redundant and I'm not one of them, but IMO there's no value in having a DVD in there.

But why wouldn't the docco be on the extras disc? I was thinking of the old serials too though, yeah.

Perhaps 'Life After Flash' and it's on a separate disc as a limited distribution 'thing' so that it won't be available in the standard 3 disc version that'll follow?

I've been peering at the pack shot at the end of the trailer, and 'Life After Flash' is definitely written as one of the features on the box's red sticker. Can't make out the rest.

It's actually a pretty cool little documentary where Brian Blessed absolutely steals the show, but to echo others here in regards to this 4K restoration - I just hope Studio Canal don't screw up the encode.

I'm in. Day one.

EDIT: By the way, I'm pretty certain the yellow disk will be the Queen CD soundtrack.

It's a great documentary, I only wish they had dug a bit deeper into Sam Jones's departure from the film, it sort of skims over that a bit.

Tried a photo of the screen and.... confirmed for Queen CD soundtrack, Life After Flash documentary, plus a 32-page booklet, book, comic strip and some other stuff I can’t make out without going cross eyed.



Is the encode by You Know Who? Would be great if that’s the case.

I'm expecting one awesome Region A playable 4K UHD disc, a few Region B standard Blu-rays that will be worthless to me, and a glorious soundtrack CD that, along with the 4K UHD disc, will make it all worthwhile.

This movie begs to be seen in ultra high definition.
