United Kingdom Friday the 13th Part II 4K UHD (1981) (UK)

Paramount will be releasing Friday the 13th Part II on 4K in the UK (and some other countries) on October 7th. The film, as of now, appears to be locked to the Paramount Scares Volume 2 set in the US, so I'm glad to see it available separately. The same is happening for Breakdown (1997) as well.

Quote:
Get ready for twice the terror with Friday the 13th Part 2! Five years after the massacre at Camp Crystal Lake, the nerve-wracking legend of Jason Voorhees and his diabolical mother lives on. Despite ominous warnings from the locals to stay away from “Camp Blood,” a group of counselors at a nearby summer camp decide to explore the area where seven people were brutally slaughtered. All too soon, they encounter horrors of their own and the killing begins again. You’ll be at the edge of your seat for this gruesome thriller about 24 hours of bone-chilling fear!

With 1 being botched, this is less appealing to me since I’d want them all on UHD except for 3 for obvious reasons. But heck, I’ll pick it up if it is good.

Why won’t they release this separately in the US?

It shouldn't be botched as the 4k digital stream looks miles better than Part 1. The HDR is not blown out crazy.

They probably will eventually, but they're still in the mindset of locking stuff being the Paramount Scares box sets, like they did with Sweeney Todd for Volume 1. It took a year for that one to get a wide release.

Overall, probably my favorite Friday movie. It has a good story and Ginny is one of my favorite final girls. Hopefully no revisionism on this one like the first UHD.

I'll probably just wait it out for a US release but if it doesn't seem like it's going to happen, I'll snag the UK.

I wish WB would just release a set of the 8 films in 4K or at least start working on the 4K restoration for the later films. Given Arrow Video is releasing the remake in 4K, I wonder if they have a shot at getting the rights to the original films as I understand the entire series is now owned by WB?

Steve Miner doesn't care about the movie today, so don't worry.

TC is pretty botched as is, and that's what we're getting here.

I may get this one as it’s one of my all-time favorite slashers but I think I’m good with the Shout set for all of the other Fridays. Unless they do 4K restorations of 5 and 6, that is.

Shout’s set only had 4K masters mentioned up through The Final Chapter, so the later ones in 4K will be worth it to me. Definitely would pick up the fifth film.

Paramount still have the rights to Friday 1 in the US and WB have the rights for the rest of the world.

Fridays 2-8 are owned outright by Paramount world wide. Jason Goes To Hell, Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason and Friday the 13th remake are owned by WB.

My wife did 4K F13:PII cover for someone about 4 years ago, based on the rental tape. Hell, she did them for the entire series!

(Horribly crushed for the purposes of posting on here).

Paramount owns 2-8 worldwide. The first film is Paramount domestically and WB internationally.
