Very powerful film, and this is great news. Hopefully we'll see more ex-Twilight Time titles reissued by other companies.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what former TT titles get picked up by other labels.

The Driver would be ideal, especially if it got the 5-star treatment that another Hill classic, The Long Riders, received.

Great news for this btw. I didn't really care to buy it when TT was trying to clear stock but after upgrading Inherit the Wind I kind of want it. Hopefully Kino does something extra with it.

Question

When Kino releases JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG, will it be a 4K or 2K restoration, or the same transfer from Twilight Time? I don't think it was ever mentioned if the Twilight Time transfer of JUDGMENT AT NUREMBERG was sourced from an HD, 2K, or 4K scan.

I bought the dvd when TT sold out of the blu. I may not double dip unless any major improvements are made or added bonus.

I doubt there is more than one master for license.

Got the TT for a great price, so I'll probably stick with that, but I'm glad for those who didn't get a chance it previously.

It will be the exact same master. There's only one HD master of most films, especially older ones, unless they get full restorations.

Okay, but was the same master from a 2K or 4K scan? No offense to you, but that's what I would really like it to know.

I wonder how many copies will actually be sold, after TT sold 3,000 of them. You know, it’s a small world after all. Most of those who bought the TT blu wouldn’t double dip unless any significant extras were added to the Kino.

Hope it sells great for Kino, though, so that they may consider releasing more titles previously released by TT, including some OOP ones.

Few days ago I scored a great deal on this TT version at eBay and Inherit the wind on SAE 10 days sale . With Judgment at Nuremberg ,this new version release is understandable since it has long gone OOP but unsure how it works with Inherit the Wind as it is not sold out yet . Welcome news for Stanley Kramer/Spencer Tracy fans who are yet to own these films on blu-ray but for those who already owns TT versions, these releases doesn't warrant double dip unless there are any significant upgrades to what is already available or extras

Wish Kino would do a 2 BD50 special edition with max'ed out bit rate and exclusive extras as both Twilight Time and AU version have identical extras except for the booklet in TT.

[Show spoiler]

Kino may re-encode it, however. Which may end up being better or worse, as they use an alternative gamma profile compared to most releases.

Too bad that Overture, Intermission, Entre' act and Exit Music are not included.
Also the 5.1 track is MIA

The Kino release also seems to have inferior encoding according to dvdbeaver caps.

Twilight Time's contract is for an exclusive window for (either two or three, I think three?) years, it doesn't matter whether they've sold out or not. But most titles which can't sell out 3000 copies in that window wouldn't be all that attractive for re-releasing by other distributors.

The issues noted down in both of these releases could serve as a basis for improvement to get one definitive edition by UK labels but I doubt this will happen anytime soon (given the history of licensing United Artists/MGM releases).

Has anyone bought and viewed the Kino version ? Wondering how it looks vs the TT version overall. Missed on TT a while back and am not too keen on dropping 40+ for this when I can grab a serviceable KL version for 9.99$
