Who gives darn about LG (Own LG 65" C3 4K OLED). These news come and go. When they see blu's still sell, they get back in the game. Vinyl is doing great, mind you ...

This. People said vinyl was dead too. If people are buying, someone will keep making players. Maybe if Sony/Panasonic get out of the pool, a boutique will step in.

Not all players are made equal though.
I tended to stick with Samsung and Philips, both for dvd and BD as they often had features that other makes didn't, in the case of the latter the dvd could always be made multiregion with a remote hack for example.
Both of my chosen makes are long out of the game now, and with 3d support also essentially definitely as well, it's going to make it increasingly harder to get a suitable machine.

My chipped multiregion Samsung 3D BD player packed up a couple of months ago, and I had to find another of the same model in order to get parts to repair it. It took me a while to find one, and it's unlikely that'll be possible again.
