Well, these never happened! But hopefully with the Warner Archives having taken off as much as it has in the UK since these'll get a second shot at a release here.

HMV potentially.

Warner ignored the UK market until HMV made a deal to get some out over here, exclusive to them.

The problem is, the discs are rather disappointing. Both have a lot of DNR and Night only has the cut version when the director's cut material has been found.

Sorry to dig this old thread up but has there been any updates on these two films getting a UK release or a US re-release. Possible future Warner Archive release or maybe Arrow might have a bash?

Wiki says the recovered deleted scenes are missing the sound, and it appears there’s some bits still missing. Looks like it was totally butchered.

Quote:
Much of the excised footage was recovered in 1999, but was without sound. This material consists of 16 sequences which extend existing scenes. Highlights of the discovery include flashback between the doomed lovers Charles and Angelique, two new scenes featuring menacing groundskeeper Gerard Stiles, several romantic interludes between Quentin and Tracy, a candlelit "exorcism" sequence in the gallery (the film's original climax), and the "hanging" sequence.

The actors came back to do the ADR for the scenes several years ago.

It's disappointing to see seemingly every b-movie slasher horror film ever made released (sometimes as a special edition!) but they can't seem to restore the "Dark Shadows" films.

Thank you — after a bit of googling I found the post regarding Darren Gross’s restoration attempts over at that other forum. In fact, I had even forgotten that I had posted in it! Glad to re-cement in my brain that all the missing footage and some of the missing sound elements were located, and relooping has been done for the rest. I have updated the Wikipedia article accordingly. Now if only WB would play ball.

Now that Warner seem to be licensing out more, I hope Night can get another look at!
