Germany Anolis Entertainment – Revenge of the Gallery of Terror

Hi guys,

Recently I received quite a lot of comments from the US and the UK regarding our releases and I have to admit I should have been way more active. I am trying my best to do that from now on. And the first thing to do is start a thread for a series called “Gallery of Terror” as most of the questions concern releases from this series.

First a bit of a backstory:

A couple of years ago we decided that it is time to release a couple of classic movies from the 50s – basically all black/white and based in the phantastic genre. All in all we had 10 films and thought this would make for a nice box. The first film would come with the box and the rest would be released basically every 2 month. When we thought of a name we remembered an old tv-program that was called “Gallery of Terror” and decided that that this was a fitting name because back in the day they showed similar films under that banner. The first entry was THE TROLLENBERG TERROR and we got a bit of recognition because John Carpenter agreed to record a commentary for this film.

When we started this series Blu-ray was not that big in Germany and to our knowledge no HD-master existed for any of the films included in the box. Hence this was a DVD-only release.

As the “Gallery of Terror” was a success for us, we continued with a second box. Logic dictates that this one would be called “The Return of the Gallery of Terror”.

Again we found 10 films and when we checked back with our Licensors we found that only 1 title was available in HD when we started so we went for a DVD-only release again. Therefore both boxes are the same size.

Last year we started with box number 3 and this one is called “The Revenge of the Gallery of Terror” and this time we decided to put the movies out on Blu-ray whenever an HD-master was available. BUT: As we knew we wouldn’t be able to release each title on BD we went again for DVD-cases. This way the box had the same size as the 2 previous ones. The starting title had been NIGHT/CURSE OF THE DEMON (see here forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=273171) and we are have released 2/3 of the movies.

I will now post the information for each release so you know what titles were included so far. And in this case I will also include the DVD-only titles (by now it seems there will be only 2). I hope the admins are OK with that.
