By living in London I've been to a fair few but I've never really made an effort to seek places out. I remember constantly stumbling upon places in New York that I recognised as being from TV and film (the MIB building!) when I visited, not all of them landmarks.
I went to Secret Cinema's The Empire Strikes Back which was in an old factory in London. I quickly realised that the interior had been used for the ship fight in Avengers: Age of Ultron. I also recently went to Cardiff and stumbled upon this supposedly American diner that has appeared in several episodes of Doctor Who: [Show spoiler]

Only one film, and it's not out yet. A Few Less Men, the sequel to "A Few Best Men" was filming in Perth last year and I was an extra one day and visited set another day because a friend was working on it. Let me just say that I felt rather awkward about the scene I was in as an extra. Like real WTF is this stuff.

The Girl With All The Gifts, coming out later this year - some scenes were filmed literally right next door to where I used to live, by the old Powergen building in Shirley. Tried to get a look when they were filming, but it was all cordoned off so couldn't see anything.

From the Revenant.
Shot in Libby, Montana for the waterfalls scene (Kootenai Waterfalls was also used in RIVER WILD, and Libby and nearby Troy, Montana were used in the film ALWAYS) ![]() Setting up drone camera. ![]() Crew carrying dummies. ![]() This looks easy when approaching the hanging bridge, but when you get about half-way . . . then comes the body freeze and horror of fearing the wind throw you around like a fly several hundred feet above the rapids. ![]() The view from the hanging bridge makes it worth the short walk from US Highway 2 in Montana (about an hour from my home) |

On top of my head : Death Valley National Park where a lot of scenes for Tatooine was filmed for the Star Wars films. Valley of Fire State Park for the Mars scenes for Total Recall the 80's version. Just to make it more interesting people should only include places that are disguised as other worlds so you can't say Los Angeles for Films like Drive, Rush Hour, etc. Just a suggestion.

I've been to too many to count but here are a few pictures that I had on my phone. Here is where several films including Jingle All the Way was filmed in St Paul, MN.
The mountains behind me is where some of LOTR was filmed. Loved New Zealand! I don't think they filmed Wyatt Earp or Tombstone here but I loved visiting Tombstone, AZ. I have pics of Bisbee AZ where several films were made including Young Guns which is just a little south of Tombstone. Last edited by zorbonaut; 06-20-2016 at 01:36 AM. |

Oh yeah, I almost forgot I've been to Hobbiton. Too lazy to find the pics. At the time it was all hush hush because it was before the Hobbit was released and they didn't want us to spoil any new additions but pretty sure none of the additions appeared in the film anyway lol.

Here's a few I've seen that I have pics readily available for.
Lindesfarne, England. One of the locations where Polanski's The Tragedy of MacBeth was filmed (they also shot at Bamburg Castle, which I've seen before). ![]() Salt Flats, Utah. Where they filmed part of Independence Day and Need for Speed, and probably many other films. ![]() Double Arch, Arches Natl. Park, Utah. Where they filmed Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. ![]() |

Unfortunately I can't think of anything for movies. I'm sure there is something I was near that was in a movie but it isn't popping into my head. I do live 10 minutes from Scranton that was the basis of the TV show the Office. The show wasn't filmed here, but the intro scene of each episode was and I've been to those places. I used to skateboard at the one building.

I've been to a bunch of the cities where various Bond movies have been set/shot, but relatively few of the actual filming locations. Off the top of my head, the square in Vienna from the climax of Casino Royale and Sienna, Italy where the foot chase in QoS occurs.
