Kevin Smith says the start date for his new film, The 4:30 Movie, is pending a SAG waiver and could start shooting very soon.

The movie is set in 1986 and deals with people who jump auditoriums at the local cinema.

Red State was the last movie of his I saw. Haven't had the urge to see anything since. Shame since I was a big fan back in the day.

Clerks III was solid

I have no idea how to see Killroy Was Here, maybe a physical release some day.

This one sounds like it could be a throwback to Clerks era style with a simple story.

Excited to see his first movie since coming off the drugs. Despite the ups and downs of his career, I still anticipate every new movie he makes and hope that he can return to the great highs of his earlier movies, before that cretin Seth Rogen introduced him to the bad stuff.

Funnily enough my Arrow 4K of Mallrats arrived today. Kev has had a lot of recurring collaborators throughout his career - I wonder which actors will be involved in the 4:30 Movie?

I'm also keen to see this - Letterboxd reviews seem broadly positive if you ignore the ones complaining about its release strategy.

As a side note, I hope Kev never makes another NFT joke. There were some such jokes in Clerks III and they were already dated when the movie came out.

This movie is my teenage years, apparently. Used to jump to 3-4 movies a day during the summer.

Feels like a relief to have unreservedly enjoyed this trailer. Kev seems like such a good bloke, I always want his movies to be good, even when they aren't.

It looks visually way, way better than either Clerks 3 or J&SBR. Clerks 3 looked totally flat, like it was shot on an iPhone. Clearly an attempt has been made to get this film looking like something of its time - it isn't quite a success at that, but it's the best one of Kev's films has looked in years.

And I got several actual laughs and a few smiles out of the trailer. The writing seems sharp. Getting away from the same old View Askew characters may be a good thing.

I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by that trailer. It looks good. Like he reigned himself in and didn't go full Smith. Now that's just the trailer and the movie could be a completely different story. But as of now, I'd definitely watch it.

Really liked this trailer (taken with lower expectations). Did anyone else get Mark Ratner and Mike Damone vibes?

Justin Long's bit at the end was hilarious. I'm looking forward to this film.

It looks stilted a bit. But I've gotten back into Smith's work after many years of avoiding him. Still looking forward to this.
