This was a feature that was barely used on standard BD, but it's just occurred to me I don't recall a single instance of PiP on UHD and I'm curious if it's even possible.

I don't see why not as it's an extension of the BD format, I think it needed Java support.

No. The secondary video decoder was repurposed for one of the Dolby Vision modes.
Some other lesser used features (eg Text subtitles) were dropped too. PiP on BD doesn't require Java, just a Profile 1.1 or higher player. |
