This is very welcome news! I recently rewatched this and the sequel and the Blu-ray discs are GARBAGE but they're my favourite guilty pleasure and I'll be buying this remaster immediately.

With the new Tomb Raider coming next year I'm surprised the thought of these UHD releases never crossed my mind.

It's not exactly the floodgates opening but it's good to see more catalogue stuff from Paramount, even if it is just new movie cash in material (this, Transformers, the first two Star Trek UHDs).

I bought the BD double pack for a fiver a couple of months ago so it's typical that a UHD might be forthcoming, you're all very welcome. Expect to see this breaking news up on the digital bits any day now.

So did I and I'm glad I wasted a fiver as opposed to XYZ on the UHDs, as they're pure shite. Especially the first one.

Fair play to Simon West though, for managing to ride those Con Air coat-tails for so long.

Yeah, he got a hell of a lot of frequent flyer miles out of Con Air. Still don't know how that turned out quite so awesomely while the rest of his movies are so dull.

I enjoy both of these movies and yes I am aware that they are not great by any means. I guess they would be guilty pleasures of mine and Angelina is a great Lara Croft. I have always loved the game series that these films are based on and I do look forward to the reboot coming in March though my expectations are not high at all. I will be picking this up as the blu-ray is not great at all. I am wondering how much better the film can look on UHD but I suppose only time will tell

All of this makes sense since we're getting the reboot in March.

I never owned the standard BD just because of how terrible it looked. They should have a nicely remaster for the 4K.

The movie's from 2001, so this would be a new scan from film...right?

King Kong had a DI, but that was 2005.
