Hey all,
I have the special edition of Titan A.E. on DVD that I have in a jewel case. The original packaging got damaged, so I put the disc in that. Bought it quite a few years ago out of the $5 bin at Walmart. Anyway, my copy still functions fine, and looks good for DVD, and I've bought the highest quality digital version on moviesAnywhere for a streaming copy. However, does anyone know if this movie will ever get a new release? I can' find it on amazon for new anymore, even the DVD (to at least get a new original case for it.) There is no mention of a Blu-ray, or 4K release either. So, was curious if anyone here knew anything. Thanks |

There sadly is no official Blu-ray or better release. When there is you'll know, because I will have it! This most likely falls into two or three, but possibly four categories:
1. It didn't do well in theaters 2. Music royalty fees and etc. 3. It's a Don Bluth film and Disney now owns it 4. Disney sucks and can't do most things right, ever if it makes them $$$ |

Don Bluth movies, despite being some of the best movies ever made period, seem to get continually shit on and seem never to get great releases. Many are owned by MGM who was done with physical media a long time ago, and many are owned by Fox (like this one) - who is now owned by Disney, who up until recently was done with physical media for a long time. I wish this received a better release, maybe with Disney refocusing on physical media there is a chance for a DMC exclusive of this or something. |

Which was most likely due to reason 1 & 2. I was hoping we were going to get sooner later as all other Don Bluth films had been released on BD. But, then came Disney.
![]() On another note; the DVD audio tracks are something else. As I don't have a sound system, I always choose the surround sound. Which converts to stereo if you don't have the speakers. It always sound as if I have rear speakers. I can only imagine what they would sound like in lossless. Let alone in Dolby Atmos. |

Thanks all for the replies. I knew it was Fox and a Don Bluth movie. I think the Fox part was why I was surprised it didn't at least have a Blu-ray release. As far as audio. I have a sound bar that does virtual Atmos, but have 5.1 physically and the audio sounds good. I usually chose the DTS track. I'm happy with 5.1 will really only put time, money and effort into a true Atmos system when I have a place of my own big enough to do things right, vs renting.
I have an M Series Vizio sound bar that does all major formats including DTS:X, and Atmos. What other Don Bluth movies are there? I remember Land before time, and Rock-a-doodle, and Titan A.E. |

Didn't know they released Dragon's Lair and Space Ace on blu ray. Too bad Dragon's Lair is no longer available on Amazon.

While we continue to wait (not so) patiently for a Blu-ray release I decided to roll my own as I just couldn't bring myself to give the "Titan A.E.: Special Edition" DVD another spin. Thought some might enjoy checking out the end result. See below.
As seen from My Movies from Windows Media Center... ![]() (Click on the image above to view my online profile for this title.) The "SCENES" menu option as seen from my Blu-ray player... ![]() (Click on the image above to view the full size image.) And yes, the chapter names and thumbnails shown above mirror the DVD release. The chapter stops mirror the DVD as well. I even carried over the audio (DTS 5.1, DD 5.1, DD 2.0), the Director's Commentary being accessible from both the "SETUP" menu option and when beginning or resuming playback. That being said, in keeping with the forum rules I'll be overly cautious. See my post over at the Doom9 forums here to learn more about the Blu-ray I created for this title (...for my own personal use). The post provides an in-depth walk-through of the Blu-ray and includes numerous screenshots of the Blu-ray menus. ![]() Last edited by AmishParadise; 03-29-2023 at 02:53 AM. |

And why not. Here's some additional eye candy, screenshots of the Popup Menu, the "SCENES" menu option. The Popup Menu is identical to the Top Menu in this case. I created a Blu-ray menu template not long ago which is what I'm using here. It's my attempt at mirroring a common menu layout used by Studio Distribution Services. Works very well I think. ![]() (Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.) Click on the spoiler link below to view the entire spread... [Show spoiler] That being said, I very much look forward to this title being released on Blu-ray one day. If/when that happens I'll be pre-ordering day one and can always make use of the above at that time if I like. You never know, right. Perhaps 2023 will be the year. Stranger things have happened. ![]() Last edited by AmishParadise; 03-30-2023 at 03:07 AM. |

Came across this thread as I was searching stuff about the movie. Still my favorite animated movie and have had the DVD since it came out. Still watch it occasionally. It surprisingly looks goo on DVD considering how old it looks. And that DTS audio track kicks some serious a$$! I can't imagine how this would be on 4K with HDR/Dolby Vision. Such a shame that Disney got our hopes up last year when they announced they were re-focusing on physical media, since they have done squat since! Now they are handing over to Sony...so will be interesting to see what materializes there.

Same here. I saw Titan A.E. in the theater when it came out. I was 24. My age has DOUBLED since the film came out (48) crazy!.... I bought the DVD day one, its still in my collection, probably one of the oldest DVD's I own. Id love to see a Blu Ray or 4K, it certainly deserves it.
