The Look: We chose the 1:85 format over the anamorphic this time because we wanted the opportunity to use every ounce of negative that we could muster to give the viewer the detail of the spectacular nature of the Highcliffs and the colors that you find in the American Southwest. The color files were made exclusively for the “Horizon” saga. The entire film has been printed onto actual film negative: an “analog intermediate” whereby each scene has actual film grain.

Tickets went on sale today, no IMAX showings as of yet. Unfortunately and surprisingly it is playing in the smaller auditoriums in the theaters near me. Would love to see this on the biggest screen possible.

Same here, which is sadly enough to keep me from seeing this in the theater. If theaters want to attract audiences back they need more premium screens so the theatrical experience is far better than what we have at home - especially for adult skewing entertainment like this.

Saw it yesterday and my mine gripe was that it was in quite a small screen

Wow, that's a very short theater-to-disc turnaround. I was considering making this one of my very rare theater trips, but with that short of a window I'll just wait for the 4K.

It's been happening more and more lately for me which is sad but it's an easy choice when my setup beats the theater picture quality for most movies

It's a shame, this, Maxxxine and Deadpool will be my only visits to the theater for a while.

Even Civil War was in IMAX and the presentation was fantastic. Horizon would have been epic on a IMAX screen IMO.

I assume they didn't want to tie up the IMAX screens with a 3 hour movie plus previews, etc. They will do that with Avatar, etc. of course since those showings will have a better chance of selling out.

I think we should all support this movie by watching it in theater, and buy the blu-ray later.

Saw this on the fandango site, sign up for the fronteir pass. Buy tickets to part 1 and get code for 50% off part 2 ticket purchase. See details of course...

But reviews have been tepid at best. Couple that with it being in the small auditoriums with basic sound and 2K projection: I'd rather wait to watch it at home. Horizon has quickly fallen from my must-see list.

And looking at the shows this weekend with only two or three seats sold for most showings, I'd say I'm not alone. This may get a lot of walk-ups to buy tickets, so its fortunes might change, but at this point if Costner wants to finish parts three and four he's gonna need to make a streaming deal. This is just not gonna perform well.

More likely that Paramount simply outbid them to get A Quiet Place: Day One in IMAX this weekend. Length has nothing to do with anything; don't forget that last year they put out Killers of the Flower Moon and Oppenheimer in IMAX.

I understand but I prefer see it and make my own opinion, and even if the movie disappoint me, we need this kind of project to make westerns or other genres less apprecited these days.
One thing that I don't understand is the release date in july for a movie like that, it can't be a sucess, and I think the sequel arrive too early.

Seeing this on Sunday. It's on a medium sized Laser AMC screen. Quiet Place snagged all the IMAX and Dolby Cinema screens.
