Australia Australia import thread

Is this a good idea for this forum?

Australia release forum https://forum.blu-ray.com/forumdisplay.php?f=99

I use:

https://www.sanity.com.au
With Sanity you get any 4 items shipped for $14.95 (about £7.80 at today's exchange rate). Sanity don't normally split orders but they did with me yesterday immediately for all in stock items. I guess they have pending stock. I know some people waited weeks (I waited a month) for some Imprint orders a few weeks ago. I guess if it's limited then they'll struggle to get stock.

Madman https://shop.madman.com.au
They stock their own stuff (Madman Films) and a lot of Via Vison/Imprint.
Free UK shipping seems to kick in at £79 or so. Under that it's £14.00.
Sometimes they have a few titles that have dried up elsewhere.

Sanity are great they take off the tax, put a sensible "value" on the package and customs friendly.

Still waiting for my package from the last sale nearly 2 months ago. More like Insanity.

That's a horrible wait. If it's an Imprint LE and still showing OOS then it's safe to assume there's none left anywhere.

I have waited 7 weeks in the past and they did cough up the title but it wasn't a limited edition item. I reckon most Australian discs probably come from Poland or Austria now so there's going to be long waits sometimes.

American Sniper 4K
Day Of The Locust LE
Killer Elite LE
*****
(name is blocked it's a Ken Russell film about a prostitute

£62.89inc (they had sent me a $10.00 Elite code too out of the blue)

The 3 items I bought yesterday have shipped and the Killer Elite (Imprint LE) didn't but did show as in stock. Hopefully they can get it.

Prices are incredibly good in the sale and as drush9999 mentioned they seem to remove local tax so the final price is less than you see advertised. Good shipping packaging too. Usually 10 days.

Re: Sanity

If you're importing, they'll wait for all the products to be in stock before shipping the whole order. I had a limited edition of an Imprint release in back order which held off everything. After three weeks, I simply asked them to swap the limited edition for a standard one (also available on their website), and my full order arrived a week later.

My advice would be that if you see an item on back order... just skip it. There seems to be a breakdown in communication between the supplier (*cough*ViaVision*cough*) and them, which causes them to make available products which are not, expecting new stock when it has obviously run out.

After I got a couple of horribly scratched Razorback discs (the 4K replacement disc AND a replacement for that) I asked Umbrella if the discs were made in Mexico and they said yes, that's where they are having them made now. I haven't ordered an Umbrella disc since.

The only pressing plant in Australia shut down not that long ago, that was the first domino to fall in the whole Disney debacle.

Yes I've used sanity a few times, they only offer cheap delivery that is more likely to get delayed or go missing, but they are understanding when things go missing and quick to sort things out

That's no guarantee, my order from 2 months included only items stated as being in stock. Still waiting for the order to ship as items are on backorder from their supplier.

I got THE PRISONER set for $86.00 USD with shipping to Germany, so many thanks for your encouraging post, Drush, as I think it's a good price for that collection. Also added a pre-order of THE BARON at $55 USD, including shipping. Nothing will be sent until the latter is released at the end of October, but here's hoping it all goes well!

Can't beat Sanity's any 4 items for $14.95 shipped. I had 4 massive sets (3 x Carry Ons and Big Screen British Comedy set) in with an order that would have been silly money usually.

Sometimes you can get 5 items for $14.95 never figured out how though.

thanks for the heads up re this. i was thinking of ordering three from viavision but kept having a tightening of the wallet. Not only were insanity cheaper for the blus, they were also cheaper for the delivery. order now placed and shipped airmail, hopefully will all be good when they arrive and i can order a bridge too far from them as well

Yes they're fine despite the high shipping charge. Well packaged too.

I echo what drush9999 said above - I've ordered direct from them loads of times - standard, limited and super limited big-box releases (the latter of which I will ONLY order direct from them after one or two no-shows from elsewhere) - and never had an issue. And the price you see is the price you pay, although I don't think I've ever made any orders that broke either the old or current customs limits, so maybe bear that in mind if you're thinking of putting through a bulk order. Maybe fire them off a quick e-mail and ask the question - they've always been pretty good and quick at responding to queries not covered on the website.

I did have one - and I think it might have, coincidentally with today's Arrow announcement, been At Close Range - that I ordered on a Sunday night (so it would have been Monday morning in Aus) and I received it Thursday morning the same week. But that was exceptional and I think I must have just caught the perfect sweet spot of orders going out that same day and being loaded onto a plane within 24hrs.

Mine arrived 4 months after I placed an order, minus 2 items that were forever out of stock. You might think their delivery method is launching the package on a makeshift raft off the Australian coast. Kidding. Once I cancelled the 2 items the delivery went smoothly. Arrived in a week or so.
