Default LG UP970 4K UHD Blu-ray player

LG rumored to launch UP970 UHD Blu-ray player at CES 2017. Will it support Dolby Vision?

Yes, Dolby Vision and it looks beautiful. Nice build quality and full streaming feature set.

If that includes Dolby Vision through Netflix and Vudu, I would give the LG strong consideration over the Oppo. Right now, I can only get Dolby Vision on my Vizio P65 by casting from a tablet, which is... interesting.

Hey Robert, do you know, or can you find out if the YouTube app on this unit will support YouTube HDR? I've only seen articles mention 4k YouTube so far, and I'm not sure if 4k is now assumed to include HDR.

LG is really getting after full support of UHD and bringing Technicolor in to boot.

Now, what about the MSRP on the 65" E7

It also plays 3D? That's a given, right?

Yes for 3D on FHD BDs. No answer yet on the Youtube HDR support on LG's UHD BD player, but yes on all 2017 LG Super UHD and OLED TVs.

I'll report back once I get a final answer on the Youtube HDR support.

The Sony X800 also plays 3D Blu-ray discs yet there aren't any 2017 TVs to watch them on.

So is it me or... *sigh*

Good news!! LG’s UP970 Ultra HD Blu-ray player is Dolby Vision capable. If Dolby Vision is not available on the UP970 at launch it will be firmware upgraded shortly after release.

That's very good Robert. ... "...among the first to offer support for Dolby Vision—after a firmware update in March."

Just got our allocation of UP970s and they are scheduled to arrive the end of February. Pre-launch promo $299.

If that is a special price, do you know what MSRP will be after the promo? Just wondering.

And if you ever get confirmation about YouTube HDR support on this, please let me know. Since my display doesn't support it natively, I'm debating which DV-capable player to get in combination with another streamer like Chromecast Ultra.

Sorry I do not know MSRP. I based our $299 delivered price on my dealer net cost.

Well, if Sony does not offer it, it will give a lot of people an easier move in DV than the Oppo pricing.
